I am seriously, desperately seeking some kind of help here... I have this issue that makes me absolutely loathe myself more than anything else in the world, and that is this excessive hair growth... I really need some advice from you all on how to get rid of this once and for all... because I’ve been reading up on PCOS, and I am terrified that it might be what I'm dealing with, especially since my main symptoms seem to be the hair growth and having very pale skin, which could point toward some sort of hormonal imbalance... Does anyone know which type of specialist I should book an appointment with, or perhaps if anyone can recommend a good gynecologist over in Cleveland???????????!!!!??? And honestly, what does the treatment cost look like, and would I actually need my parents to come with me, because I am just too mortified to talk to them about this.... Has anyone here actually managed to fully recover... and is there some kind of medication involved? How long does that last??? I realize I'm throwing a million questions at you, but this is such a massive problem for me... oh god.... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease....... help me .......any bit of advice would be so appreciated......🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 😕 😕 🙏 🙏 😢 😢

On a bright, sunny day, every single hair stands out—especially if you're a blonde.
If you think it might be a hormonal issue, I guess it would be best to see an OB-GYN and get some blood work done to figure out what's actually going on 🙂
You can just go by yourself; you don't exactly need your parents there.

Do I actually need to have a parent present for this? Because honestly... I'm embarrassed. I should probably discuss this with my own people...

Treating what exactly?
What kind of increased hairiness are parents even failing to notice?

The actual treatment involves birth control pills (like Diana-35, though you have to get your hormone levels checked and an ovarian ultrasound first), and nothing else is available by prescription.

Look, just pluck them, curl them, bleach them... hair grows everywhere on some people... for some it’s >, and for others it’s <....

Honestly, I’ve been dealing with this exact same struggle, and even after battling it for ten years, I still haven't found a permanent fix. If I were you, my first move would be to see an endocrinologist because, at its core, this is usually a hormonal imbalance, though you’ll almost certainly end up seeing a gynecologist anyway just to get an ultrasound, manage prescriptions for birth control, and all that. I remember going in for my first checkup when I was just fifteen, and the doctor recommended birth control right then, but my mom wasn't on board with me starting them so young. By the time I turned nineteen, I started taking Diana 35, but honestly? It didn't do a thing for me—in fact, none of the different brands I've tried have really made a dent. Way back in the day, I tried some permanent hair removal treatments, but they were a total waste of money. Lately, I’ve been hitting up a local center for IPL treatments, specifically just for my lower legs and bikini area (since everywhere else the hair is just too light to target, even if it is a nightmare), and I have to say, it’s actually working okay; the hair has definitely thinned out and lightened up significantly. For smaller areas where there isn't much hair, I’d suggest looking into electrolysis instead. Whether you like it or not, I suspect you might have to ask your parents to help out with the costs, given how expensive these things can get.
And let's not forget that you can't outrun your genetics; I inherited this condition just like I inherited my bad skin tone, so there isn't exactly a magic pill for it... Until you find a solution, waxing is probably your best bet, as it helps thin the hair out slightly over the long term.

The underlying causes can vary wildly, and while hormonal imbalances are often the culprit, they aren't the only possibility. You really have to pin that down first, otherwise, you're just looking at a completely different treatment plan.
So, you basically have to go back to square one and start the diagnostic process from scratch.........
