So, I just got my lab results back and they list the following details

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Microbiology Department
Mayo Clinic
tel- 4696 316

The gynecologist mentioned she'll be taking the swabs this Wednesday.

If your paperwork specifically says Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, then I'd say just head straight there. It doesn't show the exact location on mine, so I'm probably going to swing by the Mayo Clinic instead, since they're open every single day starting at 7:30 AM. My doctor just wrote "microbiology department" on the referral without any other details, so I guess I'll just have to figure it out once I get there.

Honestly, they didn't give me any specific info either, so I was just wandering around aimlessly—the staff at the clinic failed to mention which building on Mayo Clinic I actually needed to head toward. If she had just told me it was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, I would have found the place in a heartbeat.
All I'm saying is that I personally dropped it off there, and everything I wrote above was pulled directly from the lab results—just as a heads-up for anyone else out there who doesn't know the exact address.

I wanted to check back in with some fresh updates since I finally dropped off my swabs this past Thursday (December 27th, 2007).
So, here is how the whole process went for me: I visited my primary care OB-GYN and requested a full panel—specifically chlamydia, microbiological swabs, and HPV typing. He wrote me a referral for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and he actually took the swabs right then and there using his own lab supplies! Once those are done, they get sent over to the microbiology lab at the department. When I arrived at the facility, I overheard a woman explaining to the nurse receiving the referrals that her clinic—the Orlando branch—told her she had to come down to the department herself to pick up the swabs and bring them back to her doctor. The nurse clarified that almost all local gynecologists collaborate directly with them; essentially, the doctor requests the supplies, and the department delivers them straight to the office. And that’s really it!
From what I gathered, the department provides supplies to any cooperating gynecologist upon request, so patients don't actually need to trek down to the main office to pick things up. That was certainly my experience! I hope this clears things up for everyone.
If anyone happens to know what the cost will be for my results, please let me know. I don't have supplemental insurance, so I'm assuming I'll just be paying the standard co-pay.

Does anyone know what days they do swabs at the clinic over in downtown Chicago?
I showed up at 7 this morning and, surprise surprise, the window was shut tight. Nobody bothered to mention that you have to leave your referrals hanging in the little slot by the window, so when I finally got there, they wouldn't take my paperwork and I just felt totally embarrassed.
Are they actually open on Wednesdays? I can't tell.

I need to get cervical and urethral swabs done. I've had the first one before, but I’ve never done the urethral one, so I’m a bit nervous... does it hurt a lot? 😢

Oh, and one more thing—my referral says "exam plus swabs." Does that mean they do the exam right then and there, or do I need to schedule an appointment and wait for a call?

I ended up paying $22 out of pocket for two vials and one culture plate—didn't have my insurance card on me at the time.

I need some help here. I’ve heard about all these different swabs, but it wasn't until I actually went into the lab a few days ago that I realized what was happening. They confirmed the sample in the test tube was actually cervical fluid.
I have no idea what this means...🤷

I don't get how she could have even gotten pregnant. I didn't do anything, and I definitely didn't feel anything happen.😕😕😕

I have a quick question for you all: My primary care doctor—totally unrelated to the Ginić situation—just handed me some referrals for the Mayo Clinic to see their medical microbiology and parasitology department. She also mentioned they have a gynecologist there who handles swabs. Does anyone here actually know anything about that setup?

Does anyone have any experience getting lab results back from Rockefeller University? I dropped off my swabs there on March 21st, and they told me everything would be sent via mail in about two weeks, but it’s been five weeks now! Honestly, I am just so frustrated because I desperately need those results and I can't find them anywhere. It feels like they are being so unprofessional, and I feel pretty silly for thinking it would be easier to have them mailed to me; since I have a newborn at home, everything is a bit more hectic, and I'm just crossing my fingers that the paperwork didn't get lost in the shuffle somewhere along the way.

Ugh, I’ve been trying to get my OBGYN to finally order those four specific swabs, but they just won't budge on it. It’s incredibly frustrating, isn't it? At this point, looking into private clinics seems like my only option, but god, the out-of-pocket costs alone would be absolutely brutal.
