Your immune system takes a massive hit, and honestly, it’s not just because you’re breastfeeding. It’s what happens right after delivery, too. Your body is basically running on empty, leaving you wide open to catching every bug going around. Just because you feel like you’ve bounced back within two or three months—maybe you’re already out for jogs or walking around feeling like those surgical stitches and aches are a distant memory—it doesn't mean you're actually back to 100%. There's a catch: all those high-quality nutrients from your food are being split between you and the baby through your milk, which means your own immune defenses aren't getting the full dose they need. Bottom line? You have to prioritize quality nutrition above everything else. If you're still feeling run down despite eating well, be careful about just popping supplements. Take Vitamin C, for instance; your body often just flushes the excess out, so you might not even see the benefit. Personally, I think it's much better to stick to the real stuff—load up on oranges or squeeze some fresh lemonades. Getting that Vitamin C from actual food is what truly gives you that boost and strengthens your system.
Besides, let's be real—from the moment you start nursing, you're effectively on a diet. So, that total exhaustion isn't solely because of the breastfeeding itself; it's probably fueled by those endless, sleepless nights, too.
