So, I’m dealing with some weight issues that have finally started catching up with me. Honestly, they were always there, but I just didn't pay enough attention to them. A couple of years ago, I was sitting around 250–260 pounds at 6'0", which wasn't ideal, but then I had a slipped disc in my spine. It was rough—I was bedridden for six months, and after that, I couldn't work for another year and a half. During that downtime, I put on an extra 35 pounds, so I'm currently sitting at about 300. It's causing problems on all fronts. My wife is constantly on my case about my weight, my back and leg are killing me because of the disc issue and some foot paralysis, and my job requires a lot of walking, which isn't helping. After trying every single fad diet under the sun without much luck, I've decided it might be time to look into gastric balloon surgery. Does anyone know if Medicare has actually started covering the procedure? And does anyone have recommendations for where in Washington, D.C. I could get this done? I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, so I wanted to see if anyone had any insight before I go.

It’s not quite the same thing, but the goal remains the same

Check out this thread where a bunch of girls have been sharing their stories—and a guy actually joined the conversation recently! 🙂
Based on the comments, both from them and the guys, it looks like the bundle deal is definitely the more successful way to go.

Lap banding is far superior to ballooning when you consider both durability and the overall impact, so I’d highly recommend going with lap banding instead.

My mom actually works on that specific team, so I have some firsthand insight into how it all works. 😉
