Lately, I’ve been seriously obsessing over the idea of just setting up a little home gym.
I've got the space, and I've got the cash—well, it's not like I'm rolling in it, but it's enough 😁 , plus I actually have the motivation too..
I’m obviously not trying to build some massive commercial powerhouse like a Gold's Gym or something, but I was thinking about starting out with a few basic pieces...
Right now, I’ve just got some dumbbells, an elliptical, and a stationary bike that I picked up a long time ago just so I could break a sweat whenever I felt like being active.
The actual goal is to eventually have enough gear to hit every single muscle group properly (I know, that’s easier said than done, but I'm looking at this as a long-term thing..) so my first thought was one of those all-in-one multi-stations. It seems like it would fit my space and my budget, but I really don't want to waste money on some cheap junk or, even worse, get ripped off by paying way too much for something mediocre. So, I wanted to see what you guys think—which ones are actually decent, where can I find a good deal (cheap is better, obviously), etc.
Also, if you have any other advice on this whole setup, like which specific machines are worth having or where the best places to shop in the States are...
Thanks in advance 👍

Give it a shot, I guess... but you're gonna find yourself rushing through it after a few weeks once that motivation just completely evaporates. Especially when you realize you're missing specific weights or a certain machine you actually need. Trust me, when you really weigh all the pros and cons, just hitting up a local gym is way more worth it...

Here’s my gym setup: free weights (barbells and dumbbells), a power rack, a bench, a pull-up/dip station, and a stability ball. Honestly, that's all I need at a commercial gym, and it's really all you need for a home setup too. The only catch is that a solid power rack and an Olympic barbell can get pretty pricey.

interesting, I guess, but honestly I just don't feel like driving all the way out to Seattle for that...
just sticking to the local area for now, maybe somewhere nearby if things change later...

I'm definitely not gonna lose my motivation, and like I said, it's impossible to do this long-term anyway, plus I'm not planning on relying solely on that gym, so if I end up needing stuff, I can always find it elsewhere😉

👍

I guess our goals are kind of different though, since massive muscle mass isn't my main thing and I'm not really into bodybuilding. I just want to build a spot where I can get a daily workout in to shape my physique faster and keep it that way. Maybe down the road, I'll add more gear as I can afford it...

That's why I'm asking for advice. I don't want to screw myself over by getting some crappy machine, or buying stuff I'll never use, or just straight up overpaying for junk...

So if any of you guys have built something similar or actually know what you're doing in this area, please let me know. 😁

For now, I'll just stick to my local gym here in the suburbs, and if things change later on, maybe...

Look, they offer shipping all across the US, and it’s already baked into the price. Personally, I'm eyeing the Weider Pro 130. I figure I can hammer out abs, shoulders, arms, and chest on it, and then jump on the flat bench for some heavy lifting—back, triceps, you name it. It covers basically everything close enough to home...

I decided to carve out a little corner of my house just for workouts. I’ve got a weight bench set up, a small table loaded with various resistance tools, some resistance bands, and I even picked up a stepper
