uTorrent speed limit issues

Alright, keeping this short and sweet.

For some reason, my uTorrent is stuck crawling along at maybe 18 KB/s, even though I’m pretty sure it used to hit much higher speeds before this.

Anyone know why it's acting like this, or how I can actually get some decent speed back?
I'm on a basic DSL connection, and there's no way it should be this sluggish.

P.S. I've already tried half the random advice floating around online, but honestly, none of it did a damn thing. 🤷

Preferences --> Connection --> Global Max download rate... just set that max download to 0 right there

Not all files download at the same speed. It mostly comes down to how many seeders are available. More seeders typically mean faster downloads. For my setup, I have adjusted things this way: Preferences > Connection > Global Max download rate (kB/s 9) > Alternate upload rate when not downloading (kB/s 16) > Global Max download rate (kB/s 100).
My current speeds are roughly: 1024 kbit/s for downloads and 192 kbit/s for uploads.
Different connection speeds will require different configurations. Am I claiming these specific settings are perfect for everyone? No. But they work well enough for my needs.

So, what are you seeing at the bottom of uTorrent—is it a green checkmark, a yellow triangle, or, God forbid, a red circle?
If it's showing up red or yellow, you’re going to need to open a port on your router. Check this out here for some instructions on how to handle port forwarding. Just find your specific device model and follow the steps.

Sometimes I boost my speed up to 276, or even hit 350 on a speed test, but it's still just crawling at kb per second

Give these a try: 18; 32; 200. Sometimes the number of seeders isn't the only factor; the upload speed of the individual from whom the BitTorrent client originally pulled the file matters just as much.

It isn't reaching the speeds listed anywhere. On your end, you're seeing 2 Mbit/s, which translates to 256 KB/s, while 252 kbit/s is merely 31.5 KB/s. A range of 220 to 237 KB/s would be quite decent.

What if I try to crank it up to 220-237 in a bit?

So, I’m looking at my BitTorrent client and there’s that damn red checkmark staring back at me, yet I’m still stuck crawling along at a pathetic 100kb/s—and this is on a 1mb connection! Seriously? I’m convinced this whole mess comes down to how they’ve throttled our upload speeds and the sheer quality of the torrents we're grabbing. Look, if you actually want to see speeds hit 200kb/s, you’ve got to be smart about it: set your upload limit to something like 20kb/s, make sure your port range is set between 60000-65000, and for heaven's sake, find a torrent that’s actually healthy—meaning tons of seeders and as few leechers as possible. It's not rocket science!

I was reading somewhere on the internet that you can't actually reach maximum speeds anywhere. To get 200 KB/s or more, wouldn't you need a download speed of at least 2 Mbps?
