Girl missed one pill and took it 12 hours late—is she still protected?

I’ve got a serious question. My girlfriend is on birth control, but she missed a dose once. It’s been about 10 days since that happened. She went right back to taking them normally after that one slip-up, but she didn't follow the instructions perfectly—the manual says you have to take the missed pill within 12 hours, and she waited much longer than that. I'm trying to figure out if there's actually a risk here. Her period is already four days late, even though she's usually super regular. She has a doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I'm honestly losing sleep over this. Does anyone here know more about how this works?

If you finished inside her that day she missed it and if those were the right days, yeah, there's a chance she could be pregnant (I know from experience). But if the timing wasn't like that, her period is probably just late because she's stressed out.🙂

Look, there’s an old saying I live by: once you've had your fun, there's absolutely no point in feeling guilty about it... that's basically my golden rule for life.

It really all depends on which specific pill she’s popping and what week of the pack she was on when it happened... if she's taking something like Yaz, the instructions usually lay everything out pretty clearly regarding what steps to take and how much of a chance there actually is of getting pregnant...
