How do I delete my account?

I’m requesting the ability to permanently delete my profile on Reddit.

If an option like that exists on Facebook—even if it takes a while to process—it really should be available here too.

It doesn't exist, because they don't just go around deleting profiles whenever someone asks them to, I guess.

Not happening. Accounts don't just get deleted...

It shouldn't be this way. If someone actually had the time and the stomach for it, they should be able to file a lawsuit to get a profile permanently wiped from the system.

Not just to prevent anyone from ever hijacking that username again, but to ensure those old posts don't keep showing up under that name either.

You’re more than welcome to reach out to the site admin or even file a lawsuit if you believe you have legitimate grounds... But until either the owner or a court rules otherwise, our policy here on Reddit is that profiles aren't deleted.

And seriously, why on earth would someone with 10,000 posts just wipe their entire profile clean? Like, what’s the logic there? And why is it such a massive deal to them that they're actually considering a lawsuit?

Seriously though, someone please help this guy out and tell him there's actually an option to just wipe all ten entries at once. He’s being totally lazy and basically wants someone else to do the heavy lifting for him instead.

If you delete a profile, the posts stay right where they are. Honestly, I don't get why people are so defensive about that option...
It’s standard practice with vBulletin and a ton of other forum software—it’s set up to wipe the user data while leaving the content intact. I've seen plenty of deleted accounts on other sites where everything works exactly like that.

We don't even have that option available here. Even if we assume the owner actually has access to it—and considering they're keeping a close eye on the daily logs, plus users can just reach out directly via DM, email, or whatever else—I'd say there's really nothing left to discuss. I'm done with this topic.
