Alright, I’ve got a question for the group. It might sound pretty idiotic to some of you, but honestly, who cares? Since there seem to be plenty of folks here who actually know their way around a gym and understand the science of hypertrophy, I wanted to ask: are there specific exercises designed to actually thicken up the neck? Look, I'll just be blunt—I feel like my neck is way too thin. I don't even know the technical term for it, so bear with me. Please, don't tear me apart for asking, but is there a particular training regimen or maybe a specific diet that could help with this?

Hey everyone.

Hey there.

The best thing I can suggest is bridge exercises. It’s pretty straightforward—to start, kneel on a yoga mat or something similar and lower your torso toward the floor until your head is resting on the mat, positioned just slightly above your forehead. Push your legs forward and let your body weight shift onto your neck, moving back and forth. After that, extend your legs as if you were doing push-ups, but try to keep most of the weight on that specific part of your head, using your hands for support if you need to.

Then, do the same thing on both sides, and finally, lie on your back, shifting your full body weight onto your neck while making those gentle back-and-forth movements.

If you’ve never done anything like this before, maybe ask someone to show you the proper form. And PLEASE, make sure you warm up and stretch your neck and shoulders thoroughly first—there's absolutely no room for messing around when you're dealing with your cervical spine. Don't overdo it at the beginning; start very easy and gradually increase the resistance as you go.

Good luck.

Hey
If you’re still struggling with what wiredorca5 laid out, maybe just start by lying on your back—tuck your chin to your chest, then slowly tilt your head up and down. Toss in some gentle side-to-side movements after that and you're set. I’ll say it again though—don't overdo it. Even if you don't actually hurt yourself, dealing with those sore muscles is just not worth the hassle 🙂
You could always drape a towel over your forehead and rest a small weight on top... just take it slow, slow and steady wins the race 😁

Good grief, it looks like I’ve stumbled into a convention of world-class fitness experts. Seriously, I tip my hat to all the unsolicited advice—though that bit about the towel felt a little too much like a public exhibitionist performance for my taste.😁

Much appreciated, 👍

No big deal 👍 Just take it easy and go slow, nothing rushed. Like you and your buddy were saying, things can get messy if you push too hard—I’ve overdone it more times than I care to admit, only to end up needing a massage the next day 🤣
