So, I'm 35 now and I've always dealt with enlarged pores on my cheeks, but lately, it feels like they're spreading all over my face... is there actually a fix for this? What even causes it? It's weird because nobody else in my family has ever dealt with this kind of thing...

Thanks!

You should probably head over to the beauty forums; there’s an endless amount of discussion on this topic over there, so I’m sure you’ll dig up something useful. Honestly, I’m pretty certain there are entire dedicated threads just focused on enlarged pores...👍 Good luck.

You might consider trying Neutrogena or perhaps CeraVe at night. Both are quite effective for minimizing pore appearance.

I've got the CeraVe night cream myself—it’s not really about shrinking pores, more like smoothing out texture and dealing with breakouts.
It uses fruit acids to thin the skin a bit, so it's basically just a mild exfoliant.

Some people swear by lasers for enlarged pores, though I read somewhere else that you can't actually shrink them with any chemical or physical treatment.

Maybe just check in with a dermatologist.

What’s the deal with someone having massive pores and uneven texture—specifically around the temples and the whole face?

I'm 29 and just recently started actually giving a damn about my skincare routine.

The main issue is these enlarged pores. They’re driving me crazy, especially around my temples and across my entire face..
I’ve also got two scars, about half an inch long—not super deep, but definitely noticeable.. plus some discoloration and spots here and there. I’m pretty sure my skin type is oily..

I want to fix all of this—what’s the move? From what I’ve gathered, one option is chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Another more high-tech route involves lasers—there seem to be two types. One targets the glands that pump out excess oil (which is a huge issue for me around the temples), effectively shrinking or closing those pores.. the other kind works under the surface to trigger collagen production and skin regeneration, stuff like that...
I was thinking about sticking to the first route—chemical peels and microdermabrasion—but maybe killing off those oil glands is the smarter play. Honestly, I don't know. I'm worried about potentially messing things up if I go too far..

What would you guys suggest?

Here’s my current setup:

- Morning wash with a facial cleanser
- I shower at least once a day, so I use that same cleanser then too
- At night, I use a Clarins deep pore scrub, and twice a week I swap the scrub for an exfoliating gel
- After washing, I apply a moisturizer, and at night I use a night cream.. the night cream is Nivea for normal/combination skin, which doesn't make me look greasy like my daytime moisturizer does. So, I probably need a better daytime cream specifically for oily skin.. any suggestions?

That’s basically it. Since I started this, my skin looks better, but I’m still nowhere near satisfied. Those pores are huge, and the discoloration and spots aren't going away on their own 🙂))
