Maybe she just has a "gut feeling" from touching it that the "growth" is inside the vaginal canal. Looking back, I think I once had a feeling my hymen was deeper than it actually was (that was a long time ago 😁)...

Look, the reason I asked was because this doesn't match my understanding of the hymen at all. From what I know, it should just be a thin layer of tissue partially covering the vaginal opening. What I’m feeling feels more like some kind of growth inside—I can't tell exactly how deep it is, maybe a couple of inches in—but looking at this image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:V...english%29.jpg, what I have definitely doesn't look like a hymen

Yeah, because based on how the OP described it, it sounded like something inside the vaginal canal. My logic was simple: if it's deep inside, it shouldn't be the hymen.
Maybe I took the "a few centimeters inside" part too literally, but honestly, neither of us knows for sure. Only the girl who started this thread can say. Neither you nor I can play doctor here.🙂

And about the emojis... I like using them. Didn't realize they were such a trigger for anyone. My bad.

Look, honey, gynecologists aren't scary people. A good, caring doctor will explain everything clearly, whatever you need to ask.
My advice is to go see a gynecologist for a consultation and just tell them everything that's bothering you—from the hymen and cervical polyps to your first time.
It makes things so much easier. Once you build that kind of trust and rapport with your doctor, none of the exams will feel awkward, and you won't end up skipping regular Pap smears. That's how you stay on top of your health and prevent issues down the road.
If you don't know a good doctor, ask your mom, an older sister, or whoever... at least check out the Gynecologist Recommendations and Questions thread before picking someone.

My hymen was just a thin membrane, maybe a few millimeters thick, right across the middle. I actually used to panic when I realized it, thinking there was something wrong with me... until I finally understood what it actually was. (And no, I didn't figure it out only after losing it) 😁

So, what on earth is that? When I move in front of it, I can go a centimeter or two further, but then it feels like I'm pressing against something that starts to push back or fold inward.
If I move behind it (towards my back), I can go as deep as my finger allows.

First of all, please stop stressing yourself out with self-exams, especially since you're a virgin.
Second, being a virgin doesn't necessarily mean there's a physical blockage. Any guy who is eager enough will resolve that "issue" very quickly and efficiently, making sure it's never a concern again.
Some girls have a hymen that only partially covers the opening, while others are almost completely closed off.
For instance, young girls who do gymnastics rarely have issues with their hymen stretching or even breaking naturally during training.
I've heard similar things about kids riding bicycles, too.

And one last thing—even if you decide to go see a gynecologist, they aren't going to perform an exam that involves breaking your hymen; they simply won't do that.
Don't let those polyps weigh on your mind right now; it’s just not something you need to be worrying about at your age.
Just enjoy life!
