Please, just don't link this thread to anything over at the women's corner.

Why does everyone insist on treating the Zone like some trendy "weight loss diet"?
Between digging through different articles, chatting with athletes, and everything I’ve picked up about nutrition and how the body actually functions, I finally went out and grabbed that famous Searle's book.

I’ve been mulling over the Zone for months now, and I think it’s finally time to dive in. 😁
I’m really not interested in the people looking to shed a quick five pounds using the Zone (you know, the crowd over at the women's corner); I want to talk to the people who actually live and breathe these principles. I mean the Zone as a lifestyle, not just the Zone as a temporary diet.
I’ve only just started reading, and Sears talks about reaching that "zone" state like it's some kind of fountain of youth. 😁 I know he’s probably exaggerating a bit, but I also understand what that physiological state actually entails, and I truly believe it's possible to reach and maintain it most of the time.

Are there any Zonas out there? 🙂 I would love to hear about your actual experiences. 🙂

Come on, let's just say 😬

You actually already have a thread about the health zone, so definitely check out some of those older topics!

If you’re talking about the one from 2003, my bad 🙂 Maybe I should have actually brought her back from the dead 😁
But seriously, can I please ask you to just take me back there?
I’m really curious about how the Zone diet actually affects the body overall—like, how much of an impact does it truly have on someone's health if they stick to it?
Please 🙂

I was never much of a Boy Scout anyway! 😬

Don't worry, we'll get you back! 🙂

Why does everyone insist on treating the Zone like some sort of "diet" for weight loss?

Well, it’s simply because the total calorie count you get from eating within the Zone parameters falls into that "dietary" range—even though, honestly, you end up eating quite a lot of food!
As far as health goes, I can't really offer much expert advice since I was already feeling pretty great when I first decided to switch to the Zone, and I still feel wonderful today. Since making the change, I've had much more energy—I actually dropped maybe 10 or 11 pounds right at the start (that was about 3 or 4 years ago now)—and best of all, I can enjoy a piece of chocolate without feeling an ounce of guilt. 😬

we should bring the topic back🙂

Why the immediate defense?😁
I admit I am that type😳 but I agree we should return to the subject once I saw what was actually going on there...😍

Now, that sounds absolutely ideal 😬. I’d love to drop those 15 pounds myself, get my energy back up, and finally enjoy some chocolate without the constant mental breakdown... Could someone point me in the right direction regarding how to learn more about the zone? I've heard there are certain guidebooks out there—any specific recommendations?

Well, Dr. Vanja Grbac Gredelj actually authored two books—one titled Employed at Zone and another called the American Cookbook in the Zone. They were roughly $23 each back then (though I suspect the price hasn't budged much since!).
You can pick them up at Algorithm.
