So, I’ve recently started eating canned tuna pretty regularly—around 300-400g a week. Then I start digging around online and realize I probably shouldn't be exceeding 150g weekly given my weight (65kg) because of the mercury levels😠 (it feels like there's always some new health scare to freak you out about😠). Honestly, it hit me a little hard😲
Meanwhile, something like anchovies has almost negligible amounts of mercury🙂

Fish living in tuna has absolutely nothing to do with pollution.
God knows what else is going to kill us at this rate... 😁

So I'll just mix the tuna with some sardines.
Easy for you to say—it’s all going downhill anyway. If we actually listened to these scientists, we wouldn't be able to eat anything at all.😬

And it’s even more annoying because they’re so contradictory—it’s healthy, it’s not healthy... blah, blah, blah!
Both tuna and sardines are good for you, so just go for it 🙂, obviously, within reason.

Tuna is basically one of the most polluted fish out there. Honestly, given how much junk is in them, I wouldn't even touch them if I were you.

Which kind though? Like, are we talking Atlantic tuna, Pacific, or maybe something from Southeast Asia?

Then what on earth is actually safe to eat?!
Give me a break...

Look, tuna basically acts like a sponge for toxins compared to other fish. And honestly? You’ll never actually know where that specific catch was pulled from anyway. So, arguing about where it came from is just a massive waste of breath.

I did a little digging on Google and stumbled upon this article from free that pretty much backs up everything Jamie Rivera78 has been saying.
And because I clearly love being miserable, here’s another depressing read They actually expanded the list to include sharks and a few other things.

I tend to take everything I read in the news with a grain of salt.
The printed word really does endure quite a lot of nonsense, doesn't it?
If we assume tuna—which doesn't even live on the ocean floor and feeds primarily on small fish with similar habits—is safe, then what about bottom-dwellers like flounder, halibut, or skates that live in the silt? Or even shrimp, which feed on whatever settles in the sediment?
Beyond that, there is the issue of how much manipulation goes on within the food industry.

People in Japan seem to live the longest, yet they’re grinding through 16-hour workdays and eating fish about four times a week... and I honestly doubt they’re skipping out on the tuna

Given how much they charge for tuna in Japan, I have some serious doubts about its sustainability 🙏
