Look, I’m not saying Eno isn't great, but those demos hit different. And as for the lead thing? Pretty sure I didn't ingest 130 pounds of it just by snacking on feathers... πŸ˜‰

They want it, but at least they’re trying to pull it off by acting cool πŸ™‚

Just give it another shot, seriously, just give it a chance πŸ‘‹

Alright, look, they’re cool enough. But like Nicholas Perez33 mentioned, the actual album feels... stunted. Weak. It’s like they devolved into middle schoolersβ€”all synthesizers, flashy MTV music videos, and those cheap plastic sci-fi prop guns. Just superficial stuff. They're basically sitting in the back of the class with the kids.

I’ve never been one to obsess over demo tapes, either. For me, the peak is Freedom of Choice.

That punk enthusiast is always bragging about that Mabuhay Gardens bootleg. Honestly, it might be worth a listen sometime.

Bottom line: I'm not some hardcore Deva disciple. I don't claim that title.

Anyway, I'm just bored, so...

Cheers to the greatest hits collections; they really help you skip over all that mediocre music

Honestly, you don't even need to bother with a greatest hits collection. I guess just sticking to those first three albums is more than enough. β˜•

Hey everyoneβ€”I see things are getting pretty heated in here, so I figured I’d just step in and offer my own take on the heart of the matter. 😳

Look, DEVOβ€”since their whole thing is based on the idea of "Devolution"β€”are basically designed so that every single album they put out is actually worse than the one before it. It’s practically by design, right? 😬 That’s what being "true" to the concept looks like.

Now, strictly for the hardcore fans out there, here’s a little link so you can see exactly which stage of (de)volution DEVO has reached today. Please, go easy on meβ€”this link is really only intended for people who can handle a little bit of kitsch and trash without losing their cool.

So, I give you DEV2.O
😍

And just to be clearβ€”this is the real deal. DEVO stands behind this.

Look, I’ll let you pass on the new traditionalists if you want, but I have to say this:
Good grief, what exactly is the problem with everything listed above? 😬 😍 (Is it the "gypsies" part? πŸ™‚)
It’s like asking Kevin Chavez3 what he dislikes about The Stranglers, only for him to complain about the Space Invaders-style keyboards and some old-school, gritty vocals. 😬

(And by that logic, I suppose "Jerkin Back and Forth" is a masterpiece too. β˜•)

These clips are basically gospel. πŸ™

Taylor Patel2, you should probably throw those in there too. I honestly haven't gotten anything useful out of them.

Deva 2.0 is honestly pretty great. In some spots, the music actually hits harder than the original stuff, though I find myself skipping those two new tracksβ€”winner and cyclopsβ€”every single time. The female vocals aren't bad, but my heart still belongs to Mark and Gary.😎
"Big Mess" on the Deva 2.0 album actually sounds better to me than the original version (πŸ™), even if I’m still totally obsessed with the one featuring "oh no, it's Deva!"

And then there are those of you who refuse to admit NTS was actually good after their third album... well... πŸ‘Ž
Take this for example: just watch the music video for "Love Without Anger" and then try to tell me it’s a bad track... either you’re deaf or you’re just one of those blind guitar fanatics. That’s it. 😈

If you’re telling me that stuff like "that's good," "big mess," "Beautiful World," "love without anger," "shout," "don't rescue me," "through being cool," "peek-a-boo," or even "explosions" aren't considered positive things, then I honestly don't know what to tell you... we might just be living in different realities... πŸ™‚

Honestly, I think that whole "Smart Patrol / Mr. DNA" concept is pure genius... easily one of the smartest things I’ve seen in a long time... πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™
Deva is clearly operating at their absolute peak here. Honestly, that one track is just leagues above everything else on the second album... πŸ™

There’s an incredible live version up on YouTube right now... you should definitely check it out if you have a second...

After listening to it maybe five times, I honestly thought Peek-A-Boo was a total disaster.
But then, things started to shift...

Now, I think it's phenomenal, much like pretty much 90% of that entire album. πŸŽ‰

So, does anyone happen to have a copy of "The Complete Truth About Devolution" lying around?
I'd love to get my hands on it.
I'm thinking about picking up the original once I've managed to scrape enough cash together... πŸ™‚
