I’ve been wondering lately—why do some people go straight for a handful of raisins right after a workout? I honestly don't get the hype behind it. Has anyone here actually tried that and felt a real difference, or am I just missing something obvious? I've also heard people raving about how peanuts are basically a superfood too... but what's the actual payoff there? Does anyone actually know the science behind this stuff?

Since grapes have a high glycemic index, they work great as a glucose substitute—an essential energy source—making them a solid post-workout choice. They spike insulin quickly, which helps shuttle amino acids right into those fatigued muscle cells after a lifting session... though you really need to pair them with fast-digesting proteins like whey or egg whites. There's definitely more to dive into there.
I don't think people usually grab peanuts for a post-workout meal, but they're a fantastic source of unsaturated fats. Pairing them with a protein like low-fat cottage cheese makes for a perfect late-night snack. Just make sure you're eating raw or in-shell peanuts, not the roasted kind.
