...Unfortunately, I don't have a copy myself, but I promised my girlfriends I'd try to track one down. If I manage to get it, I'll shoot you a DM 🙂 though it will likely be in DivX format (if it even comes in 🙂 ), but that shouldn't be an issue...🙂

🙂
That works for me, thanks! DivX is perfectly fine 🙂

...care to elaborate? I’m genuinely curious why it missed the mark for you... personally, I'd rank it among the worst Jeffersonian films out there, but—despite that "unscripted" feel to the plot—I actually liked it. And Janne Hyytiäinen? Even though most critics trashed his performance as Koistinen, I found him pretty moving...

Because directorial autism can be a vibe—provided it isn't just self-indulgent. If an approach offers more than just a sense of total detachment or apathy—if there's a point, a stance, or a reason behind the stylistic isolation—then it works. In this case, I just couldn't find that "something."

Caught the Super Bowl on TV today

It was such a surreal mix of East meets West. I guess the rockumentary really hits home when you see that shot of the Leninist statue decked out in all those rock and roll props. 😍

...man, you two are killing me—"Balalaika" was totally off my radar, and Drifting is 😍 😍 😍 but I’m stuck out here in the sticks while everyone else is hanging out in NYC 😢

...I think I'll go check out i Hired a Contract Killer (which just happens to be playing nearby) just to feel something again 😬 😍

Man without a past,

What a wild ride of a movie. It’s packed with so many tropes—sudden spikes in tension, that god-awful whip, cheap dialogue that lacks any sense of class, and that whole legal mess inside the prison. Then you have this blue-collar guy turning into a super anti-hero who ends up as a rock manager... pretty brilliant stuff!

Oh, and I noticed something. I watched Calamara union and Ariel, and the same actor pops up in both. In Ariel, he’s like the ultimate prison cellmate ready for anything, while in the union flick, he plays Frank 😎 . Then in Man without a past, he just shows up in a photo at a bar after a standoff with the cops.
Is this guy in most Kaurismäki films? Is he basically the American Sherbedzija of that director's crew?

In the Calamara union, there are actually twelve different characters all named Frank. 😉
So, I'm not entirely sure which specific actor you're thinking of, but it's pretty common to see the same small group of actors popping up in almost all of Kaurismakian's films.

I bet boldmaker8 is thinking about... Mattia PellonpaaProbably one of that Jeffersonian guy's "most loyal" actors... I mean, was he some kind of Finnish Sherbedzija? Honestly, I don't even know who the American version of Sherbedzija would be. 🙂 ..., but unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.😢 Not even a single one. Finally, a website that actually makes sense. Not much to say about him... but give it a shot. tu...and maybe even that too. Here.Maybe this will come in handy for you...🙂

That’s it—that’s the ghost whose name I was hunting for!
I actually commented during the movie, "Look, there's his face, what happened to the guy?"
And then it hits you, he really is dead...

So, there are still some Leningrad cowboys left to catch. It'll cost you about $15 in NYC, and if anyone thinks that's too steep, feel free to head over to a small town in Ohio on June 2nd where they'll be playing on the main street for damn near nothing!
