Need help with generator procurement?

Could anyone with some hands-on experience help me out with picking up a 1.5 - 2 kW generator?
Where in Indianapolis or anywhere else in the US should I look for a gas-powered model? It's just for a weekend cabin to run some lights and basic power tools.

Look, those big-box retailers like Walmart or Home Depot... they've got the cheap stuff.
I’m pretty sure at Target, they even have the 2.5 KW models on sale right now.

I checked with a local supplier over in Indianapolis, but they didn't have anything quite right for what I need.
So, if anyone has any helpful suggestions, please send them my way!

Sandra, did you end up picking up that generator? If you did, please let me know what you paid for it. I am currently stationed in Washington, D.C. on a peacekeeping mission, and I am considering purchasing a 6KW unit here. I suspect they might be a bit more affordable than what I would find back home in Indianapolis.
