Dear fellow forum members, I find myself in need of some guidance, if you wouldn't mind. As I am sure many of you have experienced firsthand, doctors can be... well, quite unpredictable at times. In my own experience, I have unfortunately dealt with a variety of physicians, and I must say, some of those encounters were nothing short of harrowing. You know the type—irritable, dismissive, negligent, or just plain blunt. It is a rather unsettling thing when a doctor seems to lose all patience the moment they see you, especially when you are already feeling unwell and vulnerable. I am currently living in Cleveland and am looking for a gynecologist—specifically a woman, if possible. Does anyone have a recommendation they might share? It is quite important to me that she accepts insurance, as private out-of-pocket costs are simply not an option right now, and, naturally, I would hope she actually has availability for a new patient.

Going private would be so much easier. The way things are now, you basically have to pray some social worker picks up your case because all the good doctors are buried under a mountain of paperwork.
My go-to is Dr. Stephanie. She’s fantastic—even when you finally make it in at 8:30 PM, she still has enough energy to be kind to you as if she just walked through the door this morning. Plus, she’s a seasoned pro. She practices over at the Pyramid. I really hope she stays, because I actually switched to private practice just to save my sanity... the endless waiting was killing me. One minute you're being sent to an outpatient clinic near Vezica, then they send you for a color doppler at the Mayo Clinic, and honestly, I just got tired of the runaround and decided to take the shortcut.

I suppose going private would certainly make things a bit more straightforward, though one can never quite ignore the reality of a typical college student's budget... I guess I'll have to check if there's any availability left; perhaps luck might actually be on my side for once! thanks!!

Take a look at what Brnčić Fischer is doing over at Medica... she actually is taking on new patients right now.
She's located right across from the main entrance of the Mayo Clinic—in that hallway just before you hit the Amadeus wing, near that little bistro area.
I personally only went to see her once with a referral, and I have to say, she came across as a bit cold to me. People’s opinions on her seem all over the map, too... some folks find her absolutely freezing, while others swear she's the absolute best. Maybe you'll have better luck with her!

I’ve had some absolute horror stories with gynecologists working through socialized medicine.
That’s why I’m looking for a private specialist now—does anyone know someone who is actually, genuinely great?
I heard about one doctor over at Medica...

So, over at Medica, you’ve got Dr. Oluić—she’s honestly great, but man, she sure knows how to charge a premium for it. I guess that's just how it goes. The wait times aren't exactly great, though. I’ve also heard some things about Dr. Brnčić Fischer. I haven't actually sat in her office yet, but I'm heading there at the start of July, so maybe I can update everyone on how it actually goes later. From what I've gathered, she's fantastic, has a really nice practice, her own ultrasound machine, and seems like a genuinely kind person. But—and this is a big but—when I called to book an appointment, I could barely get anyone on the line. And when I finally did? The nurse was incredibly cold... almost like she was about to snap at me or something. She scheduled me for the 15th, which happens to be a Sunday, so I had to call them right back again to fix it...

Yeah, I’ve heard about Dr. Oluić over at Medica—people say she’s top-tier...
But honestly, I have no clue what they charge.

I've also heard things about Dr. Brnčić Fischer. I haven't seen her personally yet, but I have an appointment early next month, so I'll update everyone then. From what I gather, she's excellent, has a lovely office, her own ultrasound machine, and is actually personable. However, trying to book an appointment was a nightmare. When I finally got through, the nurse was incredibly cold—honestly, she was borderline rude. They scheduled me for the 15th, which is a Sunday, so I had to call right back to fix their mistake...

Let us know how it goes!!! 🙂

I highly recommend Dr. Olujić at Medica; after some pretty bad experiences elsewhere, she’s been a total lifesaver...🙂
Getting a full exam with a Pap smear and ultrasound is $150, and I know that sounds like a lot, but it's honestly worth every penny!😉

Everyone seems to rave about Dr. Oluic, so that's probably where I'll end up...
By the way, what actually goes into a full gynecological exam, and how often am I supposed to be getting one done?

The checkup usually starts with a quick chat—just talking about what kind of birth control you're on, if you have any specific concerns, or if anything else is bothering you.
After that, they’ll do an ultrasound of your ovaries, uterus, and everything else down there, plus a breast ultrasound and a Pap smear (you'll usually get those results back in about ten days). If you're thinking about starting birth control, like the pill, the doctor will send you over for some blood work—mostly liver function and probably hormone levels—to figure out which option is the best fit for you.
Generally, you should aim to go once a year or every two years at most. It really depends on your health history; I'm doing fine, so I just go every two years. Good luck, I really hope everything turns out okay! 🙂

Well... look at this... I've gathered even more here —there is quite an overwhelming amount of information regarding those Cleveland Ginić families...

Yeah, this sounds incredibly thorough. Ultrasound, Pap smear... Great!
When I remember my ex-gynecologist, she’d barely glance at me, snap at me whenever I dared to ask a question, and then just kick me out!
🤣 Everything is fine with me, but it's been way too long since my last checkup, so I definitely need to get this full panel done..

Thanks!
