Inflammation and thickening of the uterine lining

Look, it’s pretty obvious that either you or your friend got an official diagnosis from a doctor—and hopefully some treatment too.
Usually, this stuff spreads through sex 😉 or pops up after a round of antibiotics, which usually means it’s just a yeast infection caused by Candida. You probably already know the symptoms, so I won't go on about it, but honestly, it’s really not a huge deal.👍
Just use some over-the-counter feminine wipes for a few days and you'll be fine.

I got my Pap smear results back today. My OB-GYN told me I have a vaginal infection. He gave me two packs of Canesten suppositories to use at night and told me to come back for a follow-up Pap after my next period. He said there’s nothing to worry about. I asked him about sex—specifically if we need to use protection or if we're okay without it. He said we don't need to. I’m on birth control, and my boyfriend and I usually have unprotected sex. I'm wondering if I could have passed this to him, or if we should be using extra protection so I don't pass it over. My doctor was pretty blunt with his answers, which honestly just leaves me feeling more confused than when I walked in.

I believe the instructions on the vaginal suppositories advise avoiding sexual intercourse during the course of treatment... so it might be more prudent to simply abstain for a few days.

I honestly cannot fathom which particular genius of a gynecologist informed you that engaging in sexual intercourse is perfectly fine right now. Since when does a bacterial infection—if that is indeed what we are dealing with here—get treated with antifungal creams? Are you experiencing itching or a thick discharge? Because those are classic signs of a yeast infection, and things like Monistat are specifically designed for that, not for bacteria.
Regarding most infections, the standard preventative measure is for both partners to undergo treatment simultaneously, so his "just let it happen" attitude is nothing short of idiocy.😲
Put a condom on him (unless, of course, that is already a staple of your foreplay 😍) and go find a different doctor immediately! As for the current one, feel free to tell him straight to his face that he needs to go back to medical school because his advice was utterly moronic. 😁

Exactly, sexual activity is totally off the table when you're dealing with an infection. It’s just going to irritate the tissue even more since everything is already so inflamed... if you absolutely insist on going for it, then there is zero chance you aren't using a condom!
I don't know, man, it's obvious you don't have a yeast infection, so I don't get why he gave you those vaginal suppositories! What kind of symptoms are you actually dealing with?

I’m looking for some insight or advice here. I’ve been dealing with these intense chills followed by sudden waves of heat all day. My temperature came in at 98.6 degrees, but these chills have been hanging around for a few days now. I tried to check my cervix myself—it feels thick, and the opening seems swollen; I could barely even get a finger in.😲I kept checking, getting paranoid, and eventually called the on-call OBGYN at the hospital. When I asked what this might be, he basically told me he had no idea.🙄He just said I should call my regular doctor tomorrow. I pointed out that tomorrow is Saturday and she isn't in, so he just shrugged and told me to wait until Monday. Honestly, the attitude from that doctor was bizarre. He didn't even suggest I come in. Has anyone dealt with this? What could be going on?😕Also, my uterus feels like it has dropped lower than usual.😢My last period was February 13th and it only lasted about a day and a half.😢I’m honestly worried that things might swell shut.😢What am I looking at here? I still have a slight fever. The doctor didn't sound particularly concerned, though; he just asked if I was pregnant. Since I'm not, he acted like it wasn't his problem and told me to just hang on until Monday afternoon.😲What is happening????

I don't really get what you mean. What do you mean by a swollen perineum?
Maybe you're just dealing with some dryness, so it feels swollen and you can't quite close everything down properly,
but honestly, I've never heard of anything like that before. If there isn't any pain, itching, or burning down there, then I guess there's probably no connection with a fever.

You’re probably just dry, so it feels swollen and won't close all the way.
Never heard of anything like that. If there's no pain, itching, or burning, then
fever likely has nothing to do with it.
Yeah, no itching or burning. I am a bit dry... you misunderstood me—everything feels normal, just really tight, almost like a ring.🤷 Temperature isn't really my concern right now. I'll see if I need to head to the doctor, thanks.

I'm going through the exact same thing. What did Dr. Jessi tell you? Were you able to resolve the issue?

Hello there. I just received my lab results, and they indicate both an infection and a fungal issue. Since my gynecologist won't be seeing me until Monday, I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight into what kind of treatment is typically prescribed based on those findings? Would it likely be an antibiotic or something else entirely? Also, should I be concerned about the report explicitly mentioning inflammation?

Hi everyone. I recently visited my gynecologist, and my results came back showing both an infection and some yeast issues. The doctor prescribed a medication called Metronidazole, but he didn't mention whether I need to go back for a follow-up test to confirm everything is cleared. He also didn't clarify if it's safe to have intercourse while the infection is still active, or if I should wait until I've finished the full course of medication. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thank you.
