This might sound like a pretty silly question, but I’m in a bit of a rush and could use some quick advice. 😳
Basically, is there actually a way to protect specific files or folders... 😬

You can definitely secure a folder using Folder Lock.

When you're working with Office documents, just head over to the Save As tool and look under the Security tab.

And then there’s Folder Lock, Hide Folders, and Folder Guard...

Sure you can, but I tried doing that once and ended up completely screwing everything up.

1. Head over to www.rarlab.com/ to grab the installer and get it set up on your machine.
2. Once you've got it, just right-click the folder you’re looking to lock down and select "Add to archive..."
3. Switch over to the General tab and make sure you change the Compression method to Store 4. Advanced.
4. Then, head into the Advanced tab and click on "Set Password."
5. You really want to make sure you check the box that says Encrypt file names.
6. Hit ok.
7. Hit ok again.
8. Just please, for the love of everything, don't lose that password, and remember to delete the original folder you just "locked" in step two.

Honestly, there isn't a reliable way to crack these passwords yetβ€”at least not one worth my timeβ€”so any other software claiming otherwise is just bloatware you don't need.πŸ‘

I agreeβ€”strong encryption is the gold standard. I couldn't break a 4-digit code, let alone an 8-digit one; you'd be looking at two years of work there😬
