I mean, what is there even left to say😕 when you get screwed over like this. It seems nobody has any respect for their elders or those who have contributed more than others anymore. Truly pathetic.

He's from Thorns—he wouldn't even dream of not giving up his seat to an older person on the subway 🙂

What subway? I always assumed everyone there just relied on Ubers.😕

We seriously need to establish a dedicated rock and roll sub-forum specifically for those of us over 30, where we won't be constantly harassed by the younger crowd.😠

There’s an insane amount of great new music out there right now—probably more than ever before—mostly because tech makes it so easy for anyone to record stuff.
But yeah, we aren't seeing brand new genres popping up, just a bunch of eclectic mashups of the old stuff. Or movements, I guess.
Honestly, this is the perfect era if you just love music for the sake of hearing it. (And look, I get why people are getting all worked up over this debate)
It sucks for people who need to feel like they belong to a specific scene or a movement, though.
Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...
Probably bad, since everything starts feeling a bit diluted and loses its edge.
Or maybe not. Who knows.
I'd honestly rather just grab a drink or light up and stop overthinking it...

Yeah, sure, as long as you can claim you're "socially active" while wearing a diamond ring. 🤣

Can someone please catch me up? What are we even fighting about here? Geriatrics vs. Gen Z? MTV vs. local indie radio? Gramophones vs. the iPod? Revolution vs. evolution?

Regarding that last one: it’s not that today's youth lacks conviction. It’s just that there isn't a single common enemy anymore. Everyone gravitates toward their own niche—anti-globalism, vegetarianism, LGBTQ+ rights, Greenpeace, you name it. There are bands for every single cause, but just like in music, that one cohesive mass with enough momentum to actually move the needle doesn't exist anymore. Nowadays, whether it's beliefs or beats, you just pick what fits you. And honestly? That's great.

Sure, you can be fully immersed in a scene or a sound, provided you don't mind the fact that the whole thing predates your birth by decades...🙂

It bothers me a little, but not enough to make me walk away from Punk.🙂

And yeah, the link between music genres and personal beliefs is basically dead. You’ve got Christian metalheads and satanic folk fans out there now. Everyone finds their own niche, but everything has splintered into a billion different genres, ideologies, and little subculture "cells." I'm not even saying music just became a more highly profiled product—it's actually the opposite. Nowadays, we're the ones hunting down the music, rather than the music finding us.

😬 😬 😬 He actually got torn apart on national TV because of that comment

What does "indie" even mean

Once again, someone’s trying to lecture the mod about how much of a rebel they are—honestly, I might just lose it, myself and them and the mod included 😠 though maybe not in that exact order 😠

I never said that—not even close. I simply mentioned that we have some poems that touch upon social issues... so, honestly, just back off. 😬

I wouldn't go so far as to say they passed away before we were even born, but I guess you could certainly make that case! 🤣

I think we might have lost the thread here! The original point of this discussion was actually about why today's most popular indie bands feel so watered down compared to those loud, unapologetic groups we grew up listening to. 🙂
I guess you could say acoustic is becoming the new Electric! 😢

Maybe that’s actually the answer to why my current NP is such a mess

That’s all there is to it. I’m honestly getting pretty tired of all the whining from the acoustic guitar crowd; I just want to hear some actual noise.

boldscout72 said:That’s not what I said. I said we have songs that deal with social issues. Get lost. 😬

🤣 basically asked if you had songs about social themes, then you started acting like a know-it-all because of the recession, claiming you're all about being socially conscious. Then Steve called your bluff and totally shut you down. 🥳 I see right through you. 😁

They already told us everything 🙏 🙏 🙏

Honestly, best summary of this whole debate I've ever seen. Especially that last sentence... 🤣
