The Scream Trilogy!

This is easily one of my favorite franchises, even if the third installment was kind of a letdown, I guess... To me, the original is the absolute peak. The cast—Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Bridgette Wilson—is just incredible. Plus, the whole vibe, from the score to the cinematography, hits just right.
What's your take on the movie?

Personally, I feel like the Scream franchise is easily a hundred times better, more engaging, and way more intense than most modern slasher fare; it’s honestly such a tragedy that we don't see many films made with that kind of spark anymore. Does anyone have any solid recommendations for good movies that capture that same vibe or fall under that same genre?

Honestly, both trilogies—the Scream Trilogy and I Know What You Did Last Summer—are total trash. But if you're asking me, the first Scream was the only decent one...

This movie is killer. Too bad my absolute favorite—Sarah Michelle Gellar—has to play Helen and die in this one. Typical.

In Scream 2, someone gets tossed off a balcony.

I actually dug that scene where the killer chases her down to her sister's shop—too bad the sister didn't make it. She actually put up a fight and tried to block those hits instead of just dying easy. Honestly, she deserved a spot in the Scream 2 sequel.

The second one was alright—nothing to write home about, but fine.

Thirdly—not that it matters—I don't think I've ever seen a worse movie. Actually, wait, there is one: Project 2.

The first part was actually pretty decent, but things definitely started sliding downhill after that.

Honestly, I only really remember the first one, and it was solid. I miss this style of horror.

Honestly, this movie is pure childhood nostalgia for me. 😍 Look, I know it’s got its flaws, but it’s easily one of my favorite teen horror flicks. And yeah, let’s be real—I was totally obsessed with Ryan Phillippe back in the 90s. Hehe. 😍 It’s definitely one of those movies I’d happily stumble upon while channel surfing on a random night.

It’s easily the first decent entry if you’re looking at it through the lens of horror—or even just as a solid slasher. The sequel is a massive struggle to get through, and honestly, the third one is best forgotten altogether...

We'll just have to wait and see how this series turns out.

The third one just doesn't really hit the same way as the first two—it feels like a different beast entirely. The only real connection is that The Fisherman is back in the mix...

As of right now—though there hasn't been any real news—we still don't know how far along they actually are.

Look, this series definitely lost its spark once they started churning out sequels—it just couldn't keep up with itself... but if you hold it up against everything else in the genre today? Honestly, the original still stands head and shoulders above most of the junk we're seeing now.

I only caught the first installment a few weeks back. Honestly, I wish I hadn't. There wasn't anything particularly gripping about it, aside from young Ryan Phillippe. 🙂 🙂
