So, what kind of lyrical stuff actually hits home for you guys?

Are you more into those simple, everyday vibes, or do you lean towards love stories, politics, religion, or maybe those abstract tracks that make you really sit back and scratch your head to figure out the meaning? 🙂

Personally, I’m all about the deep, abstract stuff (probably because I’m such a huge Linkin Park fan 😁), though I don't mind a few politically or religiously edgy lyrics thrown into the mix now and then 🙂

Personally, I’m all about a song with a killer chorus—once you’ve got that hook, they could be singing about frog mating seasons for all I care, and I'd still be vibing.

Traditional folk songs are just overflowing with heartache.
And tales of bravado, too.
Not to mention the elegies, naturally.

Lyric-heavy songs are for those pretentious rockers who claim to be saving forests and whales. If we absolutely have to ruin music with words, let's at least make them sound like this:

"Dumbo is ready for her journey back to the jungle,
happily blowing her trumpet: toot, toot, toot.
The herd leader calls out to her, hey, Dumbo, hey!
Now she holds that magic power on her way to Las Vegas.

What are those songs that leave you absolutely speechless because they capture a specific moment or emotion so perfectly? You know the ones—they just have that "something" extra... I mostly stick to rock, metal, and similar genres, but we all know just how much depth and quality can be found in those styles.

I’ve always had a bit of an eclectic taste in music... things like fruit-themed classics (think Led Zeppelin’s "Lemon Song")
then there's the illusionist stuff (like "A Kind of Magic"), the raw political rage of RATM, anything psychedelic involving Pink Floyd, those tracks where you aren't entirely sure what they're actually singing about but it doesn't really matter, and finally, the soul of pure instrumentals from brass bands.🙂

Is RATM actually singing about incest? 😕 🤣

I guess my absolute favorite ones are the ones where there's plenty of sunshine!

When New Year's rolled around, the word "motherfucker" just kept looping in my head. It’s such a quintessential American term, right? They throw it around constantly, and if you look at the literal translation, it's about fucking one's own mother. I started thinking about how we don't really have an exact equivalent over here, so I was actually rambling to Canary about how that specific expression is almost like a title in their culture—a label for someone who has truly pushed past every possible boundary. A guy who would actually go that far has basically transcended the limits of normal existence and entered some kind of transcendental realm. Nothing is sacred to him; he does whatever the hell he wants... The mere fact that this phrase is probably one of the most widespread terms in the English-speaking world really speaks to how much "motherfucking" matters to their social standing and cultural identity. Being called a motherfucker is both an insult and, in a weird way, the ultimate badge of honor, because to them, someone capable of that is practically a shaman. After all that heavy debating about motherfuckers, I ended up heading out for a run through the woods with a flashlight at three in the morning, making me one of the very first people in the country to get some training in this year, and definitely the first one to do it while hammered. I was running uphill from Malibu all the way toward Santa Barbara. By January 3rd, I was already out hitting the slopes in the snow, running again, and on the way back, I took a quick dip in the ocean just to toughen up my Spartan spirit...
