and you gotta just scream "hit it—hit it... just hit it!" right on beat.

Marine Force said:Your best bet is just listening to combat yells, screams of pain, and the sound of blood spraying from arteries or bones snapping during training sessions😁

Exactly. And then you've got the added annoyance of a coach trying to shout over some audio system that’s just there to distract everyone anyway...

Come on, Peter Myers29, you're the one looking for specific tracks during practice.🤣 🤣 🤣

We might be a small group, but we make our presence known.🤣

Peter Myers29 said:If you ask me, music is strictly for shows or demonstrations, not for actual training... I mean, are you hitting the gym to listen to tunes or to actually master a skill?

Oh, please, give me a break with the music talk!😁
From what I can tell, you’d probably rather hike up some mountain in the Rockies just to meditate to the sound of the wind while you "learn."😬
What's wrong with music? It actually keeps the energy up!
Besides, let's be real—Thai boxing isn't some hyper-focused discipline like Wing Chun where you have to be 100% dialed in every single second of the minute.

Music can actually be pretty chill for winding down if you don't crank it up too loud, and while having it blasting might mess with your head when you're trying to learn something new, it definitely helps when you're just running through stuff you already know.

I mean, if you aren't taking it seriously, then sure, maybe it isn't.

Honestly, I don't think you can really pull that off with any discipline at all, much less stay focused forever. 😉

In that case, you might as well just head to a disco... you're still moving, jumping, sweating... and there's zero risk of bruising (unless the bouncers are feeling particularly sadistic) 😁

Naturally. The higher you climb, the more there is to learn and practice. Honestly, I’m starting to feel the withdrawal symptoms... I think I’ve reached an advanced stage of Aikidoholizam.😁

Look, fine. I take my training seriously, alright? I put in the work. Maybe from the outside, it looks like we just crank up the music and turn every session into some laid-back jam session, but that’s not the case at all. If anything, the music helps us get better results—we’re getting positive feedback because the energy is higher and the atmosphere is just... better. It works.

Honestly, people who only listen to that trashy pop-country stuff... what is it, metal, rock, techno? Doesn't matter, as long as it's that mindless garbage. I love that crap so much it makes me want to tear my opponent apart, rip through gear, and burn the whole gym down just for the hell of it... No, seriously, finally we're having a conversation about music where the crowd isn't obsessing over that cheap radio pop. But just imagine... you're in the gym, drenched in sweat, mid-way through an intense sparring session, and your coach decides to drop some cheesy, upbeat pop track... you'd lose your mind. You'd get so fired up you'd end up leveling the guy you're training with.

Someone brought up the Need for Speed soundtrack and listed a few tracks, but they missed the absolute best one in my book... From Static-x, the song is The only. That track gets me hyped just walking down the street, let alone training to it. And while we're talking about that album... there's a track by Ill Nina called i am loco.

Christian Rodriguez15 said:it might seem like we’re just playing music to keep things light and breezy during training, but that's not really it, because honestly, the tunes just help us get better results since everyone’s vibing and actually putting in the work.

I hear you, and I totally believe it, especially when you're grinding through those repetitive drills like heavy bag work where having some decent rhythm just makes the whole slog feel a little less soul-crushing.

Eric Jackson43 said:I agree. When you are doing repetitive movements, like hitting a heavy bag, music really helps.

That is true. For example, when I am focused during a training session, my concentration is high. There is no music then. But at home, while I am hitting the bag, stretching, or working on the bench press, the music always carries me. It provides a boost. In those moments, it motivates me more than if I were training in silence.

I mean, yeah... you need that motivation, especially when summer hits. We’re doing a bit of work, mostly just drilling the stuff we picked up during those more intense sessions back in the spring. Our coach was actually thinking about shutting down the gym for the season, but he kept it open for a small group of us who really wanted to push through the summer months. Honestly, it’s a lifesaver for staying in shape because once autumn rolls around, things are going to get absolutely brutal.😁

By the way, all those tracks you guys mentioned are killer. I’ve always been more into that progressive metal and rock vibe, but seriously, every single one of those songs is top-tier. Thanks, everyone.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't stand listening to music while I'm working out 😢 It’s not that I’m not a huge music fan—far from it... it’s just that when I'm training, I crave total silence 🙂
