It kicked off today. The rosters aren't quite as stacked as they were during the Olympics, which makes sense since the NFL season is still going, but there are plenty of guys whose seasons wrapped up early enough to show up. It should be interesting.
I've been glancing through some write-ups. I guess the Swedes are playing without their guys from the US, while the Russians just brought Ovechkin as their one big standout. Apparently, the new star Crosby is playing for Canada.
Hmm, I was looking over the roster the other day, and I can't help but feel like this might be one of the weakest lineups we've seen at an Ice Hockey World Championship in quite some time... maybe I'm off base here, though.😕
Czechs Knock Out Russians in Ice Hockey World Championship Quarterfinals
During the Ice Hockey World Championship in Minneapolis, the Czech players pulled off a massive upset by taking down the Russians in the quarterfinals. A sudden-death goal from Irgl sealed a 4:3 victory, sending a stunned Russian squad packing. In the end, even Ovechkin and Malkin couldn't carry the team on their own. This Saturday, the Czechs face off against the Finns, who cruised through their matchup against Belarus with a convincing 3:0 win.
