So, we've already covered quite a few of the absolute classics—stuff like Red Poppy, the Bileća woman, and Bandier Ross. And yeah, obviously Bella Ciao belongs on that list regardless of what language you sing it in. Then there's Konjuh Mountains. If you're looking for international stuff, you really can't beat checking out Quilapayun or Inti-Illiman; they have an endless supply, and their most famous track is El pueblo unido jamás será vencido. I'm sure you've already thought of Cohen's Partisan too. But, getting back to our own backyard here in the States... those aggressive, pamphlet-style anthems always seemed to have the edge, like "Hey, Count On Us"—which actually isn't a bad tune—even though if you dig through various random compilations, you can find some really beautiful tracks that never really caught on. I'd recommend the Zoran Rambosek album Tito loves pioneers (actually, if anyone has a copy, let me know...) and that single by Boris Bizetić featuring working Končar / thirteenth. Though, good luck finding those now... they're basically impossible to get. As far as the more famous ones go, I've always had a soft spot for that song by the Ivo Lola Korn group, mostly because it uses snippets from letters, though I'm not even sure if they're legit...

And when you get into the Heroyix/Sejmeni type stuff... hmm... I guess you could argue about what actually counts as anti-war versus what’s just anti-fascist/Partisan. Take Arsen Dedić - giving rain, for example...

I walked up to the guy handling the instrument, asked him which side you're supposed to approach it from, and then I just went to town on it—absolutely pummeled that harp, slapped it, and belted out "Count On Us." It's actually a rather dark composition...
