Ever since I saw that Samuel L. Jackson was starring in a movie titled "Snakes on a Plane," I have utilized a specialized metric for evaluating Sci-Fi action released in 2006. It is based entirely on three specific criteria:
1. Are there snakes?
2. Are there planes?
3. Is Samuel L. Jackson in it?

If the answer to any two of these questions is "No," then the film is essentially worthless.

Let's see. Damn... they're all women. What is this? Some kind of feminism in cinema, or are they just aiming for mindless eye candy in the style of Charlie's Angels or Three Wild Angels? No, don't come at me with the accusations of sexism. Based on the trailer, Aeon Flux doesn't look great, and I'm not particularly fond of that actress. Milla Jovovich is even less appealing, though she was excellent in The Fifth Element. And the whole Violet concept seems even stupider, though perhaps better than Underworld. Still, Blade II has a much better story (don't try to argue with me on that one), Domino looks like trash, and I'm just not interested in Selene.
However, I would actually love to see Natalie in V for Vendetta. It’s bound to be good since it’s based on the cult classic comic by Alan Moore, and it's being made by the British, which is always promising. Remember Return of the Swamp Monster (even if it isn't strictly based on his novel, but a different, longer story), The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Constantine. So, I'll go with Natalie Portman, mostly because I'm not overly thrilled by shaved female heads (at least her favorite book isn't just the Bible, unlike Sandra from BB. Don't know who that is? Perfect.)

Dammit, I really hope they make a movie based on my novel one day, just so they can see what a real, masculine character should look like...

I forgot to mention that I was specifically referring to how Americans handle adaptations of Alan Moore's work, including From Hell. They tend to just "Americanize" foreign films and books while keeping their own interests strictly guarded. On the other hand, the British are producing V for Vendetta, which looks incredibly promising...

Uhhh, the movie is being directed by the Wachowski siblings who, well, are listed as producers, though I find it hard to believe they weren't more hands-on. On the bright side, the cast features some great British actors. For instance, Stephen Fry is absolutely brilliant. I should also mention Natalie Portman, though my enthusiasm for her waned after seeing her in the new Star Wars films, so there's that.

Look, any movie starring Kate Beckinsale is bound to be decent.

As for the crowd treating these movies like they’re cinematic masterpieces needing intense scrutiny from high-brow critics? I won't even dignify that with a response.

It’s clearly the same group that probably thinks Rambo III deserves a serious critical analysis.

Just finished watching Aeon Flux... it was decent... though a bit more nudity, crazy tech, and some solid action wouldn't have hurt...
I also downloaded Underworld II, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Why conflicted?

rapidbison42 betrayed House Stark, while Gaius Baltar betrayed all twelve colonies.
The difference? One did it on purpose; the other didn't realize what he was doing.

As for Galactica... I'm just finishing season 2.5.
I have my doubts about whether the rest holds up. 😠 😠

That’s technically true, though my mental imagery differs slightly: rapidbison42 is essentially a feudal lord who would be out there in full plate armor leading his troops, whereas Gaius Baltar is just some little coward who'd get handled easily by a blonde woman if she actually felt like it.😬
As far as Galactica goes... season 2.5 is wrapped up.
The continuation is highly questionable.😠 😠
