The Artnet site is basically a passion project run by a group of ambitious young creatives hanging out at our namesake Film Club. Our whole vibe is centered on pushing film culture forward and making sure the younger generation stays plugged into everything happening at the Film Club.

The Criterion Collection site officially went live on December 27, 2005, and we threw a little launch party the very next day over at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Conceptually, we’ve split the site into two main pillars that our editorial team treats with equal importance.

One side of the Artnet platform is all about daily updates—fresh news, deep dives, and trivia specifically curated for a younger audience, along with exclusive interviews and special features.

The other half is dedicated to the Art Film Club, where you can keep tabs on all our upcoming screenings and events hosted at our Film Club.

We take huge pride in our boots-on-the-ground reporting. We aren't just rehashing press releases; we're writing original pieces, from on-site reports at premieres and major festivals to deep-dive interviews and honest reviews.

Our goal is to strike a balance so that both sides of the site get equal love from our readers. We see it as our mission to cover the world of cinema and film culture in a way that’s articulate, engaging, and actually relatable. We’re aiming for news that isn't just fast, but interesting, truthful, and thorough.

We really hope we hit the mark and that you find something here worth sticking around for. Cheers!

Every time I head over to Artnet, the very first headlines that jump out at me are... It feels like Katie Holmes is really leaning into her role as a dedicated, hands-on mom lately, and honestly, I think it’s beautiful to see her embracing that side of herself so fully. i I honestly think a little bit of alcohol might actually be doing Matt Damon some favors..

Haha.
I was actually planning on chiming in myself—but I decided to hold back. I didn't want to be the one spreading negativity right at the start of the New Year. 😍
Look, if those articles were actually written properly... Let’s be honest—if you want to talk about what’s actually happening in the film industry in an eloquent, engaging, and—dare I say—palatable way, you have to cut through the noise. Most people just skim the headlines, but if you really want to get into the meat of it, you need a bit more substance than your standard clickbait. I was thinking about this the other day while grabbing a coffee in downtown Chicago—just watching the crowds rush by, everyone staring at their phones, probably reading some half-baked take on a movie trailer. It’s frustrating. We live in an era where everything is condensed into a ten-second clip, yet we're expected to have deep, nuanced opinions on the state of cinema. If we’re going to discuss the movement of the industry—from the big studio shifts in Hollywood to the indie gems popping up in local Film Clubs—we need to approach it with a bit of gravity. You can't just react; you have to analyze. Whether it’s a groundbreaking exhibition at MoMA or a curated selection from the Criterion Collection, there is a level of craft involved that deserves more than a mindless "like" on social media. It shouldn't be difficult to foster a real conversation about film. It shouldn't feel like a chore to stay informed. We need to move past the superficiality and actually engage with the art itself. Otherwise, what are we even doing?Well, I guess that means it’s fine after all. 😁

...couldn't agree more with that dose of irony...

...but then again... at least it sounds nice 😍 ...let's give them a chance—maybe they'll actually pull something off...👍 🙂

To me, that sounds like "whatever appeals to teenagers," which—let’s be honest—is hardly a compliment.😁

I really hope you can actually live up to the "MoMA" part of your name.😉

The site is back online. We’re doing everything we can to prove that our commitment to MoMA-level quality is worth it. Let’s be real—Hollywood isn't exactly setting the gold standard for us; we look much closer to home for inspiration. That’s why we were covering the 15th Annual American Film Festival on our dedicated sub-portal, and honestly, we’ve already got the next big project in the works...

Get ready, because there’s a screening of the documentary "Dynamo 1911 - 2006" coming up this Monday, May 8th. It kicks off at 8:00 PM, and it’s all being put together by the Film Society. Film Society It was held over at the New York Public Library. The documentary itself was directed by Siniša Jagodić, and it was put together to celebrate the club’s 95th anniversary—back when they were based out of Central Park.

The Film Society is teaming up with Dynamo for a special community screening, and honestly, this sounds like a pretty big deal. They aren't just rolling the film and calling it a night, either—they’re hosting a full-on Q&A right after. You'll get to sit down and actually pick the brains of the director Siniša Jagodić, along with Freddie Kramer and Zoran Mamić. It’s going to be an intense conversation, so if you want some real insight into how this all came together, you should probably show up.

Admission to the screening is totally free, and if you want to dig into the details, you can find everything you need to know right here: The Film Society website..

The Film Society is still going strong over at our portal, and we’re actually in the middle of building out a brand-new sub-site specifically for the upcoming festival.

Check out all the hard work we've been putting in and come hang out with us...

We just got an exclusive look behind the scenes of Lukas Nola's upcoming film, "pure magic." We didn't just stop at a quick reportage, either—we sat down for deep-dive interviews with both the director and the lead actor, and we even put together a full photo gallery. You can check out the whole spread over at our site...

Oh, and if you're looking for some freebies, we just launched a giveaway on the portal. We’re handing out eight DVDs to start, and trust me, there's plenty more where that came from later on.
