Gelatin and the risk of BSE

The media is out here manufacturing total paranoia over some harmless bird flu, meanwhile everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten about the shady stuff happening at the NYSE...

I’m looking for links and actual hard data regarding the risks of consuming gelatin.

Whether they realize it or not, the media is essentially acting as a mouthpiece for Big Pharma—it’s all about driving up those prescription numbers...
As for the gelatin found in so many products—some brands disclose it, others don't—it undergoes chemical and thermal processing, so logically speaking, it shouldn't pose a risk.
If there's a lab tech, a chemist, or a biologist in the thread, I'd love for you to weigh in and give us some actual clarity on this.
