Well, I heard through the grapevine that when Barbez played at The Juilliard School, it was actually one of the best shows ever... maybe it’s just the venue or the crowd or something else entirely, who knows...😕
I'll give you my actual take after they play here on November 30th, just so I can throw a little sand in your eyes and mess with your head a bit...😁

Man, 😵 how did you even remember that!
Later on, 🙂 Pamela😍 was all like, "Yo, that singer looks totally mental from the Albanian RESISTANCE." 🙏

But honestly, seeing Barbez was easily the most boring show I caught all season.

You totally forgot to mention the "opening act"—that whole new age pedal-steel vibe from Bill, who’s usually part of the pretty decent Friends of Dean Martinez.

The physical tickets just arrived from the printer... I'll be sorting through them today and tomorrow—they should be available for purchase by Monday.

You guys are all jerks—that was actually awesome. Those projections in the back were a vibe, too. Plus, I picked up Random Harvest, which is easily one of my favorite CDs on the shelf right now. Heading off to listen to it.

What is this, am I stylistically cosplaying as Hopey?

I mean, honestly...😁
but it’s almost always the exact opposite—performers from NYC usually take the crowd pretty easy, they go all out without holding back, while LA audiences can be so incredibly cold and detached. I guess the one exception was when Notwist and Stripes 🙂 played, so whenever you see a massive, wild crowd at a show here, it basically guarantees the set was fucking legendary 😁

Barbez New York

For those of us who diligently track the shifting tides of the New York music scene, 2004 is destined to be remembered for the explosive emergence and rapid evolution of an entirely new subgenre known as punk-cabaret. With heavyweights like Gogol Bordello, The Dresden Dolls, and Barbez leading the charge,

Oh my, when you mention cabaret punk, it simply means we absolutely have to go see it!

Is there even a remote, tiny, infinitesimal chance that we might ever witness The Dresden Dolls performing here in the States or perhaps somewhere nearby?

My buddy Vincent just sent me this...

Thanks for yr interest in Lightning Bolt ... chances are low they'll come over in April but I am currently Trying to get them on tour again in America and will def -> Lollapalooza
They need very specific backline and all, so it's not the easiest band to fly over.

A Sunn O))) (think I spelled that right this time) are confirmed for Feb 27th. 😈

I think the guy is playing games since he didn't mention any specific conditions last time, yet he confirmed the gig halfway through... but anyway, if they actually show up 🙏 🙏 🙏 and we officially declare doomsday here.

Thanks for your interest in Lollapalooza... chances are low that they'll come around in April, but I’m currently trying to get them back on tour in the States and will definitely let you know. Lollapalooza Look, there's a slim chance they'll make the trip over to the States this April, but honestly, I'm deep in the weeds right now trying to get them back out on tour across the Atlantic. If everything falls into place, I'll definitely make sure a show lands your way.
Their gear requirements are super specific, too—they need a whole mountain of backline just to function. It’s definitely not one of those easy bands to just toss on a plane and call it a day.

I’d drop a hundred bucks on you right now just to make it happen! I NEED Lightning Bolt!!!! AAAAAAAANNNGGHHHH!!!!! :dead:

What he wrote applies specifically if they're flying all the way from America to New York... usually, when they're in Belgium, they set up a very specific itinerary before heading out on tour, so in those cases, there aren't any extra demands...
In any case, even if they don't make it here by next week, they're definitely hitting the European tour by summer...

Poor soul renting them the backline... 🙂

Look, if Lightning Bolt actually shows up, everything could go completely sideways right after...

🙏 🙏 🙏

They might as well just set off firecrackers during the show and start screaming religious chants at the top of their lungs...

🙏 🙏 🙏

Honestly, I’m more worried about what happens if they don't show up...

I'm genuinely scared Skugi won't be there to witness the absolute fury of a mob made up of united emo kids, hicks, and Oktovod...
I can already see Tajchi out there dousing everything in gasoline...
