SK Telecom ski broadcasting rights

Does anyone know which networks will be broadcasting the World Cup skiing races this season? Will there be any coverage on PBS like last year, or will most of it move over to NBC? It feels like NBC doesn't really focus on sports anymore, while PBS has that secondary channel... Just trying to plan ahead.

It’ll probably be split between NBC and some other network like ABC.

I know for a fact NBC will have the coverage for Austria and Zoe, so I guess the rest will likely land on ABC.

The only thing I'm unsure about is this upcoming SJ tour. Usually, ABC would pick that up, but honestly, who knows if they even have the budget to cover the next 12 races... they managed to pull it off until now, I suppose.

Anyway, my rule of thumb is always the same: when every major network fails you, you just fall back on Slo 2 or satellite TV. 😉

Don't sweat it; the skiing threads around here are treated almost like a religion, 😬 so you'll definitely stay in the loop regarding schedules and broadcast times. 😉

Which actually reminds me... Lake Louise is in two days. I'll probably have to start a new thread tonight if the starting lists get posted.

I still have my doubts about what they’ll actually air, considering it feels like there's hardly any sports programming left on the schedule!

Well, there’s the official word... FOX is going to be broadcasting all the WSC races, except for the ones held in Austria.

And honestly, please just take a second to read their announcement... they're acting like they have the "most expert" commentators or something. 😂

Maybe it'll just be Brkić and Lugonjić. 🤣

Personally, I still have a soft spot for the coverage from Canada. 🙂

We don't even have real expert commentators for sports that are way more popular than skiing, so where are we supposed to find them for skiing? If it weren't for stars like Janica, most people wouldn't even care what was happening or know where to tune in.

I wonder if there's even going to be an SSK this year? 🤔 I mean, a broadcast, specifically.

I just really hope it doesn't turn into another total mess like that whole situation with Kodar and Barcelona. 😂

There has to be a broadcast somewhere, even if the commentators are total idiots who drive me crazy... It’s a shame they canceled Soelden... Now we just have to wait a little longer until things get started...

They'll probably broadcast it on PBS, but I honestly doubt we'll actually get to see every single race from the SSK.

'Come to think of it'... even up until now, we haven't really had the chance to catch every single live broadcast. 🤔

Same here... compared to FOX or PBS 🙄

but you'll probably admit that the current crew over at Tepina and Vrhovnik are just pale imitations of the legendary duo Igor E. Bergant and Tomaž Cerkovnik. Those two could turn even the most boring race—if such a thing exists in skiing—into a real show just with their commentary. 😁

NBC is solid:

"Lindsey Vonn"... yeah, they actually know how to pronounce the letter C. 🙂
