And they’re using drugs, too. I suppose it all comes down to the substances. 🤮

Gary Young said:Yes is hands down the greatest band in the entire universe. You guys are all just total wimps! And just so we're clear, I told my contacts in Colombia that I want a million bucks in cash! Plus, I'm the one leaving the band—you can't fire me! :2up:

🤣

I voted for Pavement because I’m currently in my whole Pavement phase... everything in my life happens in phases right now.🙄

You gotta be a multi-choice kind of person... I’d throw a vote for Silver Jews too.😁

And why the clones???🙄 🙄

Should be multiple choices... I’d have voted for Silver Jews too.😁

Just so fools can ask questions.😛

I don't think they're clones; more like a battle of the bands, old school style.😁

So, apparently getting clean wasn't enough for me. 😢

Here’s something that hits a little too close to home right now:

I'm drunk on a couch in Nashville
in a duplex near the reservoir
and every single thought feels like a punch in the face
I'm like a rabbit freezing on a star

on the wrong side of Sunday Morning shattered in the terrible light working for a bankrupt circus on the wrong side of Saturday Night and i wanna be like water if i Can cause water Doesn't give a damn Chased

there's an alter in the valley for things and themselves as they are and the triumph of the obstacles and horseleg swastikas

First off, toss slymoose91 into the dumpster because they have no idea how to weigh the actual stakes in a head-to-head matchup between The Fall and Morgan Parker5. Slymoose91 basically dissolved into a massive void back in the dark days of 1984.

Since the American white trash aesthetic of bands like Morgan Parker5 is much flashier and more colorful—think a neon-lit bodega—it appeals way more to younger crowds, sensitive types, and women. It easily cruises past The Fall’s "northern white trash" vibe, which feels like some dingy, dilapidated fish & chip stand.

I know I'm wasting my breath here, but I'll give my vote to The Fall simply because gray is more aesthetically pleasing than pink.

I’m falling a bit behind here. Honestly, the band I love most in the entire world—and I truly believe they’re the best out there—doesn't deserve this. Come on, let's get out there and vote!!

Hey clones, who should I vote for? Whoever makes the best case gets my vote.

Douglas Taylor4 said:First off, putting Black Flag in the trash is just lazy because they can't actually weigh the heavy hitters in a head-to-head matchup (regardless of Henry's muscles and tattoos): it's The Fall vs. Morgan Parker5. Black Flag dissolved into one big void back in the dark days of 1984.

this is (my) war!

1. Equating Black Flag solely with Henry Rollins is just as shallow and mindless as comparing Genesis to Phil Collins.

2. I think the idea of "dissolving into nothingness" is pretty much dead and buried the second someone responds to such a stupidly empty, pathetic—or rather, kitschy—paragraph.

And on a serious note, I honestly believe the Flag's legacy is far more influential and enduring than either The Fall or Morgan Parker5. Crucify me if you must, but then maybe sit down and actually think about it (I'd appreciate it if you did that in reverse order).
Maybe those people listening to overly romanticized, soft-pink indie tracks—who, paradoxically, only listen to music through their ears—just can't wrap their heads around why Black Flag matters. To me, they were the first band to introduce and define an entirely different ethic and mindset within the music scene (which is essentially what draws most people to indie and "alternative" music today). Maybe I could have picked any early hardcore band, but Black Flag represents the core from which everything else flowed; they definitely possessed the most influence, intelligence, ambition, and the sheer will to overcome inertia.
Plus, they made great music, though I realize that's subjective.

And Buzzcocks probably doesn't even realize they're Buzzcocks while they're on the clock.

This entire thread about Black Flag is the most unnecessarily serious take on this forum I've ever seen. 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙂
