Piggy said:Regarding Cikatica—since most of us only know him by reputation and don't have any actual arguments, we don't really have anything to discuss. But coppermarlin6 clearly has some firsthand info, and what he’s saying seems to align with the general vibe and atmosphere surrounding the guy.

I disagree with the idea that what people do outside the ring doesn't matter. Of course, everyone has different criteria for what they want in a sport or a skill, and what they expect from a master or coach. To be completely honest, if I were a student of Yip Man and found out he was regularly getting harassed in public establishments, I don't think I'd stick around. Maybe I would—I really don't know what kind of person he actually is... nobody is perfect... but for me, the character of someone I spend so much time with—especially in traditional martial arts rather than just combat sports—is at least as important as their technical knowledge. It's like if I were a master, I wouldn't let a student like that train with me (unless it's a pro club where you can't control that sort of thing). Or if I owned a company, I wouldn't hire a total scumbag, even if they could make me a ton of money through sheer talent; I don't want to deal with that type of person, let alone see them every day.

While smoking isn't exactly a huge deal—bad habits don't necessarily define someone's character, even if they aren't exactly virtues—what's being said about Branko is a completely different story. Besides, things like alcoholism or other addictions mostly just hurt the individual, but here we're talking about messing with people's careers and lives, especially when dealing with the potential of a professional fighter. We're also talking about how someone operates within the martial arts world and how fights are organized. So, this isn't about Branko's private life; we aren't pulling out stories about drug addiction, mistresses, or financial schemes. If what coppermarlin6 is saying is true, then it directly impacts the sport itself.

Maybe this should be moved to a separate thread, unless there's an actual plan to do a show specifically about Branko...

Truntic would be an excellent choice if he could be talked into it... He's the first person who comes to mind when you mention traditional martial arts in America, and it seems others feel the same way.

- I have arguments and I know Branko... and I know all those stories coppermarlin6 is rambling about... but I don't think it has anything to do with a martial arts show... it belongs with other institutions... if anyone feels that strongly about it.
-Like I said, I don't expect people to be Supermen... Huxley used to smoke, too; does that mean we should burn his books and stop letting kids read them???? Just thinking aloud...👎

ruggedfalcon2 said:Look, I know Branko pretty well... but like I said, I couldn't care less about his personal life. Honestly, I don't think any fight show should be focusing on that stuff anyway.

This isn't even about his private life.

ruggedfalcon2 said:Branko is a fighting genius, and that's the only thing this show should be covering. If you're so obsessed with legal disputes, why don't you just start a thread about Cikatica over on the Law subforum?👋 👎

I’m not sure how much of a genius he actually is. I'm not here to play judge, but like most American fighters, Branko is pretty raw—definitely more of a Mike Tyson type than an Ali type.

I can only say the same thing I said about Mirko during the Fedor fight thread. Even if Mirko had won, I still would've walked away thinking Fedor was the superior fighter.

Maybe Cikatica has the best record, maybe he's the greatest, but based on his style and how he carries himself both inside and outside the cage, I don't feel an ounce of respect for him—at least from what I can see from a distance.
Are you seriously suggesting that a fighter's greatness is measured solely by their wins and losses, even if they have zero character?

That kind of person is an absolute moron.
At the end of the day, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

You’re overlooking the fact that we’re mostly talking about kids who just turned eighteen and have nothing but blind faith in their teachers. Aside from that, I’m with you. Personally, I’ve never signed a single thing without reading every word first.

And since everyone seems so eager to chat, why don't you all just head over to the DMs and tell the gentleman who started this thread what's on your mind? I'm closing this one down now.
