Is it just me, or is this movie kind of meh? The lead feels like a total pale imitation of Ben Stillerβ€”honestly, he’s basically just playing a classic Stiller role anyway.

Nothing special, just typical American overthinking.

There are some funny bits, I guess... a few scenes work, but overall it's a letdown.

Ben Stiller is much better (as already mentioned).

I have to disagree slightly, because I actually think Carell brings a much needed layer of emotional depth to his character. It feels like Stiller often takes a safe retreat back into basic slapstick clowning, and I just wish he’d tap back into the incredible potential he showed in Flirting with Disaster. I suspect the real culprit here is just a weak scriptβ€”which is exactly what Junfer was talking about.

I thought the movie was actually quite decent, though I must say, I only found myself laughing a handful of times.
