Dana Anderson4 said:Maybe Americans just need a better sense of humor.😁 I was actually trying to say I had absolutely no clue what he was talking about while I was watching that legendary televised sermon from some TV preacher out in the Midwest.😁

It wasn't even a joke...

And who the hell is this Sean Phone guy?
Sean Phone?😁

😁

"Von" is basically German for... well, you know. We use it when someone’s acting way too high and mighty. Like, imagine you're sitting at a Starbucks, sipping your latte, people-watching, just checking out some tattoos on girls walking by, and then some guy decides to act like an intellectual. He starts lecturing you on how those tattoos are just a fleeting fashion trend, topping it all off by dropping a Lacan quote just to sound deep. That’s your classic Sean Phone.
Basically, it's what you call someone when they're acting smart—even if they actually are. It's just not really appreciated around here...🤔

To me, this feels exactly like Bogovićev, just flipped north to south.😁

And hey, I hope they end up spending way more time with you than with me! 🙂

My top 3 coffee picks:

1. Nescafé with vanilla
2. Nescafé with vanilla from that cafe across from the NYU campus (plus a vanilla cookie)
3. Nescafé with vanilla in the courtyard of the Smithsonian

😁

Well, damn... even if I try to use some slang from back home in the States:

- mahalski - someone who is way too nosy, constantly sticking their nose in everyone else's business, a total gossip...

- hahar - unattractive, unpleasant, repulsive, low-class, crude...

I can't even begin to explain what a "mahalski hahar" is... and contrary to what you'd think from those individual definitions, the person is actually a great guy, a legend, a real boss, someone truly worthy of respect...

Insults are just part of the deal here. Regardless of how offensive the words seem individually, putting them together creates a positive vibe. For example, when Alex Rogers91 calls Elwuss a "total jerk," he's actually doing it out of affection and respect...

The local dialect has become full of these beautiful, made-up terms again... most of which mean nothing, but they're as useful for daily banter as a street dealer is for finding weed... meaning, they're very useful.

Not sure what I was actually getting at...

There I also failed miserably at trying to explain things for my college papers...

Alex Rogers91 said:That’s Sean Connery for you.

Look, people use "Sean Connery" as a sort of code or a vague catchphrase for shady business that needs to stay under the radar, or just to talk about things the rest of the group isn't supposed to grasp. For instance, back in the summer of 2001, when we were working at the Rhode Island School of Design, saying "hey, Sean Connery, it's time" meant it was nearly noon and Enis and I were heading out for a smoke break in the courtyard behind the campus. It functions exactly like the way Alex Rogers91 used it in his example...

😱 😱 😱

Macaulay Culkin, we were supposed to be talking about coffee, but then Tilda Swinton and Lady Gaga had to go and bring up the crime against humanity that is Nescafé. If I were running an ad campaign for that stuff back home in the States, the slogan would be "Nescafé? How about some actual Nescafé instead!" Absolute Horror. It’s like bringing up masturbation when the topic is sex. Or talking about Colony when the discussion is about music. I think I need to go brew myself a strong cup of dark roast just to calm down...

And you should probably do the same if you want to stay sane. Me? I'm going for some chocolate and Turkish delight. ☕

Susan Clark10 said:1. Jacobs Nescafé with vanilla

Alright, so which one is it—Nescafé or Jacobs?

Personally, I’m more of a traditionalist—I just grind my own beans for a fresh brew.😬

Honestly, I need to go brew myself a strong cup of traditional coffee just to calm down.

Look, I'm not in the USA, I'm just in my own room, and I can drink whatever I want and make whatever top ten list I feel like. By the way, since you're such a fan of steamrollers, I'm certainly not getting excited over here.👋

And it isn't Lady Gagame—it's Susan Clark10.. L as in Love.. ☕

It's Nescafé by the Jacobs brand, if that clears things up. 🙂

Look, let's be real—Nescafé is Nescafé, and Jacobs is Jacobs. There’s no such thing as a Nescafé brand by Jacobs. Saying that is like telling me you have a Sony made by Panasonic 😵

Honestly, it's all the same nonsense. Comparing brands like that is like grouping every toothpaste or razor together—it doesn't matter. If it isn't real coffee, it's just junk, and honestly, it could be any random brand for all I care.

By the way, man, I knew what neighborhood slang was, but I didn't fully get the whole post until I realized we were talking about some sports fans...

Oops.. 😁 I actually meant those vanilla-flavored Jacobs cappuccinos.. 😵

The bottom line is, if there isn't vanilla in my coffee, it's just not right. 🙂

Susan Clark10 said:I'm not out traveling or anything, I'm just in my room and I can drink whatever the hell I want and make whatever top ten list I feel like making. anyway, you're clearly a fan of The Rolling Stones so I'm not exactly losing sleep over this.👋

And it's not "lady" me... it's Susan Clark10... with an L... ☕

My bad, I'm an idiot, I can't tell an uppercase I from a lowercase L... But you totally missed the point here—no amount of Nescafé, Folgers, some vanilla chicory crap, or whatever else you throw at it belongs on a list of the best COFFEES. Because those aren't coffee. They're just instant drinks engineered to mimic the taste of coffee. Maybe they have coffee in them, maybe they don't.

Look, I'm not disgusted by Nescafé; I can drink it if I have to—just like I can listen to The Rolling Stones—but I'm not gonna be doing either on a regular basis. It just drives me crazy when someone asks if I want coffee and then tries to hand me a jar of Nescafé. I’m still standing my ground on this one: stop mixing up the terms...

And for the record, it isn't "lady" me... it's Susan Clark10... that's an L as in Los Angeles... ☕

Look, you've got a point there, because I guess I've been guilty of treating Nescafe as if it actually counts as real coffee, even though it really isn't... 🙂 Besides, whenever I have folks over to my place, I always make sure to ask them straight up if they want actual coffee or just some Nescafe. 🥳😁

I get what you mean. Honestly though, I find it kind of funny when people lose their minds because I say I'm drinking coffee when I'm actually just having a Nescafe. 😉 To me, real coffee is just bitter and unpleasant. Plus, I don't even keep any Turkish coffee at my place. In fact, I never even learned how to brew it properly. 😳 And I really can't stand those old-school coffee rituals my family used to do—sipping scalding hot coffee while surrounded by cigarette smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife. Here in the States, I've just gotten used to grabbing an iced decaf cappuccino. 😁

Honestly, thank God an iced decaf cappuccino replaced all those mindless, ancient traditions and actual real coffee.
