What, did you quit your old gig just to go flip croissants and bagels at Clara on the night shift or something?

Kevin Chavez3 said:Writing this post actually worked up enough energy for me to quit my job and head over to Roxy to buy every single Exploited record they have in stock. 😁 Unfortunately, some guys from Madjar screwed me over by grabbing the "Totally Exploited" and that great "Death Before Dishonour" set, leaving me stuck with "The Massacre"—some cheap import version. 🙂 At least they had the first Pet Shop Boys album at Free Bird, so there was some small consolation. 😍

😵 😍

I'm just glad I don't bother buying physical music 😁. A new tube of Lip Balm makes me happy enough, and I don't get upset when someone else grabs it first.

He just needs a moment to wrap his head around the situation.

Not quite, but I need a break from Exploited (that's this Thursday, right?) and I don't have a ticket, no ride, and honestly, I'm not even that dying to go—even if I think that Evans album is great. It’s just not really the kind of music I want to experience live...

Boo-fucking-hoo, quit being such a damn emo.

Good grief, since when did you become a music critic moderator? Evans is playing today. People will drive you home drunk, sure, but someone would definitely give you a lift all the way to Vienna if you asked. 🙂
The whole ticket cost is basically a wash, man $33.
Why didn't you speak up sooner, Stas?

No way! Just leave me alone! To hell with MacKaye—he sold out long before "Out of Step" anyway. 🙄 😁

Man, talk about being sensitive... What, you want to go listen to Octopus and Black Feather instead?

lonebison37 said:"The grasshopper crawled up her sleeve" is actually a song about pregnancy 😬

I haven't stumbled upon that specific theory yet, but that line "Go on, girl, get into that cornfield and set yourself up however you can!" definitely sounds like the prelude to the kind of situation mentioned above. 😁

Then again, if I really think about it, there's a chance she was just forced out into the field after eating way too much heavy navy bean chili and cabbage rolls. 😬

Honestly, I heard through the grapevine that the guys in the band were basically just messing around and joking each other up after she got carried away... 🙂

Alright, let's break this down

The song is called

1. A grasshopper crawled up her sleeve
2. It kicks off with "Go on, girl, fix that mess however you can"

3. But it definitely doesn't end like that:

It's performed by SOUND LABORATORY

Honestly, I think it’s pretty tough to pin down what they're actually talking about here
😁 😁

Does it have an album? Hmm—my sister is obsessed with that stuff, I should probably tell her.

Man, I was actually starting to get worried that nobody had mentioned the Snorkels—but hey, at least Pen and Carol Jackson45 showed up.

1. Animal Kingdom—I filled out two of those and ended up getting two gift baskets. 🙂
2. Formula 1—honestly, I can't stand F1 these days. 😁
3. Pets

4. The Snorkels—I never could get my hands on an album because they were always sold out... total childhood trauma there. :trauma:
5. USA 94—yeah, that one, mostly because it just led to massive bullying back in school. 🙂

And seriously, is nobody going to mention how expensive those old Major League Baseball cards used to be?

Michael Newman50 said:And why hasn't anyone mentioned how much more intense the old American soccer leagues used to be?

How could they not!🙂 Where else would you go to see such an impressive collection of edgy urban hairstyles? Those guys from the local factory team were practically walking pieces of high fashion.

Man, even their name was poetic: Spartan🤣

What really stuck with me—the old workers' club from Chicago—was founded back when it was known as Anarchy United. They used to wear those striking black and red jerseys 🙂
.
My three favorite spots to catch a game:

1. That old field down by the coast, the one with the steep stairs leading up to it. 🙏
2. The community park downtown; our benches were always occupied, so we’d end up bothering decent folks just trying to relax... now there's just some silly fountain sitting where we used to hang out.
3. The big stadium, where if you knew which gate at the entrance was missing a bar, you could pretty much slip right in.

Moira said:I heard rumors that the guys in the band were actually kind of awkward with each other after things got heated

Hmm. I guess that might be true, but maybe the songwriters aren't even the ones responsible? It seems more likely they just lifted some lines from that Red Baron collection we all used to read during summer break and felt a bit embarrassed about it. 😁

Such a basic mistake... you say "football players" and "teams."😁
