Come on, don't even start with me. They've been patching Internet Explorer 6 for five years now, and that firestorm only broke out "recently."

But honestly, the exact reason why we aren't seeing millions of security flaws in Mozilla is because it's relatively new, so there are only hundreds instead; it’s just basic logic! You seriously can't take the number of vulnerabilities found in a product that's been out for ages—constantly under the microscope of every bored hacker out there (looking at you, Internet Explorer)—and compare it to a (semi)finished product that just hit the scene and hasn't really caught the attention of the hacker community yet, mostly just because its user base is still so small.

That being said, the fact that we're starting to see more and more holes popping up in Mozilla lately actually says a lot about how shaky its security quality really is, especially since even the hackers who couldn't care less are finding flaws in a product that hasn't even been on the market long enough to be studied nearly as deeply as Internet Explorer has been over the last decade!

So, bottom line: it is pure stupidity to try and weigh the number of bugs in an old-school product like Internet Explorer, which has been sitting in the crosshairs for ten years, against a newer product like Mozilla that basically showed up yesterday and hasn't even been a major target yet!

Get some reality in those twisted heads of yours, please!

I said "mostly" (look it up in a dictionary if you need to). I wasn't saying all bugs are harmless; I was saying the vast majority of discovered vulnerabilities have been harmless (or close to it). I never claimed there aren't any critical errors—that currently mostly applies to Opera 😁.

So, let's strip away all the "expert" analysis and technical jargon for a second. Let's say we're using US browsers—we're clicking around, hitting different sites, try to open a new tab... and boom, US doesn't have tabs. Fine, open a whole new window and head over to Google http://www.goohle.com/ Oops, fat fingers. Ended up on some sketchy spyware site. Great. Now I’ve gotta waste my afternoon updating Spybot and cleaning out adware just so I can get back to browsing without my homepage turning into some junk search engine or random pop-up hell.

Then you shut down US and fire up Chrome. You browse, and browse, and browse, and everything works fine. If Chrome ever starts acting as buggy as US does, I'm ditching it for Opera or whatever else is out there.

Bottom line: people claim US has more vulnerabilities because it has a larger user base, but honestly? I don't care about those stats or corporate white papers. All I care about is surfing the web without a headache.
