northerncrane4 said:Look, I'm not trying to force my views on anyone. Communication is a two-way street, which means you can actually call me out on my nonsense. Moore's isn't. He just pushes his own version of reality, conveniently leaving out any details that don't fit his narrative because he's using a medium that doesn't allow for much pushback. Clear enough? 😛

Heh, fair point... your take is definitely up for debate 😁😁...but so is Moore's. The difference is you're convinced everyone else is just a mindless sheep, so you think you're the only one seeing the flaws in how Moore operates. Like I mentioned back in the Fahrenheit 911 thread, his movies are full of holes. Moore is a populist, plain and simple—but that’s exactly why he’s successful. Besides, sure, the way he talks to us might be one-way, but that's hardly his fault if you'd rather have a chat with a movie screen than actually discuss what you saw with other people. 😛

Jose Miller17 said:Heh, you're right there—your opinion is definitely prone to questioning. 😁😁...but then again, Moore's is the same way...

What do you mean by "likewise"? I am answering every single one of your questions and doubts directly. Does Moore do that?

Jose Miller17 said:That’s a separate issue entirely—you’re so convinced everyone else is just a mindless sheep that you’ve managed to be the only one to spot the flaws in Moore's methodology.

Where is this coming from? I simply stated that Moore's methodology is comparable to Riefenstahl's. Some people can take it—others can't.

Jose Miller17 said:Besides, the medium Moore uses might be one-way—but that’s hardly his fault if you'd rather just stare at a movie screen instead of actually discussing what you saw with everyone else... 😛

Look, the movie screen isn't the director—just as you aren't actually talking to your monitor right now.

northerncrane4 said:It’s just like... maybe "Fahrenheit 911." Nothing more, nothing less.

but I guess what's the actual danger you're seeing with F911?

Like, not voting for Bush?

I mean, that doesn't seem dangerous at all, it just seems pretty reasonable, I suppose.

But somehow the result ends up being exactly the same 😁 😁 (get the metaphor I'm using with the screen? 😁 )....
besides that... why don't you finally tell us which "dangerous thoughts" Moore supposedly forced on you?

Jose Miller17 said:But hey, the end result is exactly the same 😁 😁 (getting the picture now? I'm talking about the silver screen here. 😁 )....

I don't get it. Look—I am still answering your questions to the best of my ability.

Jose Miller17 said:Other than that... just tell us, finally, what "dangerous thoughts" did Moore impose on you?

Well—let's say everything is meaningless, that there are zero positive options left in today's world, that nothing but thugs and criminals run the show, and that no matter what you do, there's no hope for improvement. In that case, you might as well end it all right now—and it wouldn't hurt to take out a few of them standing around you before you go.

northerncrane4 said:So, let's say everything just... doesn't matter. Like, there's no positive way forward in today's world, just a bunch of thugs and criminals running the show, and no matter what you try, things aren't getting better. In that case, maybe it’s just easier to check out right now—and hey, if you happen to take a few of those jerks standing around you down with you on the way out, well, I guess that wouldn't hurt either.

man, holy crap... if you actually took that away from F911, I really hope you never end up watching "Fight Club." Who knows what kind of headspace that might put you in. 😁 😁

My star, you have to read it—really dive in—to understand what actual depression feels like. Then move on to Palahniuk. Compared to the book, the movie is just a picture book.

Yeah, I guess I believe that 👍

I mean, if I actually read it, I feel like I might never want to get out of bed again 😁

Is it more depressing than Orwell?

Why be depressed? For me, a pack of Marlboro Reds works better than any antidepressant.😁😁

So, let's say everything is just pointless. Let's say there isn't a single positive option left in today's world, that nothing but thugs and criminals are calling the shots, and no matter what anyone does, there’s zero hope for things to get better. In that case, you might as well end it all right now—and hey, it wouldn't hurt to take a few of those jerks standing around you down with you first.

Woah... Nelly 😲 Well, now we know where all those suicide bombers get their inspiration from 🙄

Man, you really can't read everything on this forum. And here I was thinking the Politics sub-forum was just a little corner for those basement-dwelling, antisocial, depressingly pessimistic types who think they have a monopoly on how reality works... turns out it's just a general lack of basic human decency everywhere.

It’s actually pretty jarring to see such a total lack of impulse control, or any concern for the weight of making such sweeping, final "judgments" like the one above. Though, knowing the author, it feels less like a genuine expression of the nausea and despair that this kind of realization usually triggers, and more like just a bit of voluntary, projected grandstanding.

What else am I going to miss on this forum? And here I was thinking the Politics subforum was just a breeding ground for self-righteous experts—the kind of basement-dwelling, antisocial pessimists who lack even a shred of basic human decency.
It’s wild how much people lack basic self-control and foresight when they drop these kinds of final, sweeping judgments. Though, knowing the author, this feels less like a genuine realization born from actual regret—which usually leaves you feeling sick to your stomach—and more like just a desperate attempt to make a scene.

Heh, northerncrane4 isn't just being fed dangerous ideas... he's being fed thoughts that the person planting them didn't even intend to plant. 😁😁God help whoever actually goes to the movies with him. 😁😁😁

I guess it's more like he's being forced to think things that the person actually trying to influence him didn't even want him to think in the first place. Maybe? It's kind of weird when you look at it that way. 😁😁Poor soul, whoever ends up going to the movies with him... I mean, seriously. 😁😁😁
....

Why though? I mean, don't people actually want to sit in a dark movie theater too? I guess it's just... how things are, I suppose. It is what it is. ?? 🤣 🤣

It doesn't really feel like a statement born out of genuine turmoil, nausea, or despair—which is what that realization usually brings about when you actually sit with it and think.

he's obviously just messing around... if White had actually said that, I'd be genuinely worried 😁 😁
