That’s the line, anyway...

Look, calling food "poison" isn't exactly a rigorous scientific argument or even a professional one. 😁

Food isn't inherently poison, but does it contain toxins like artificial dyes and additives? Absolutely. By fasting, the digestive tract and the entire body get a much-needed rest, allowing them to focus on self-regeneration and flushing out those impurities.

Well, you don't necessarily need to fast for that. Like Atlanta and I mentioned earlier, you can just eat clean, toxin-free food to detox your system.

I guess there's a middle ground somewhere between stuffing your face with donuts and total fasting.😉

I’ve never been able to find that sweet spot; I always seem to swing wildly from one extreme to the other. 😬

Is there really no middle ground between gorging on donuts and total starvation? 😉

I think you're missing the point. It’s not just about "detoxing"; it's about giving your body an actual break. Your system still has to process every single thing you consume, whether it's food or liquid. That’s why sticking to plain water during a fast is the smartest move—it requires the least amount of digestion while keeping dehydration at bay.
And honestly, fasting isn't nearly as impossible as people make it out to be. It all comes down to one thing: willpower.

Plus, you have to avoid dehydration.
Fasting in general isn't as difficult as people make it out to be. One word: willpower.

So, what, should we just hold our breath every once in a while so our lungs get a rest too? 😉
From breathing?

I actually see some potential value in this thread, so I really don't see the point of these constant, useless interruptions.

Well, if you're so enlightened, why don't you enlighten us then? Like, how exactly is fasting without any outside food supposedly "useful"... seriously?

A non-religious fast on Friday is pretty much the same thing as fasting on a Thursday.

Honestly, fasting every single Friday is just overkill. You don't need to go that hard. Just doing it once a month—ideally during a full or new moon if you want to get technical—is plenty. That's when your body is actually primed to flush out fluids and clear out all those nasty toxins most efficiently. The only real rule you need to follow? Make sure you're slamming at least 2 to 4 liters of water that day. Otherwise, what's even the point?

Good luck with the fasting 👍

Alright... so, what's the actual logic here? Like, what theory are we even using to decide when it's best to fast during a full or new moon?
