sex, drugs, and rock & roll

So, I was over at Madison Square Garden the other day catching that movie "sex, drugs, and rock & roll." Honestly, I’m still kind of reeling from it; the sheer amount of violence and raw brutality on screen just left me completely stunned. It makes you wonder if that kind of chaos is actually a reflection of what's going on in America and the way our sports fans act. Has anyone else here actually sat through that film yet?

Haven't seen it yet, but tell me—is it actually good, or is it just one of those I’m-gonna-show-extreme-gore-in-hopes-they-call-me-the-next-Tarantino type of movies?

I think it holds up pretty well. I’m not really a fan of any FC in America, and honestly, I don't even bother showing up to games because of the exact kind of chaos and hooliganism you see in this movie. It makes me wonder, though: Is it actually possible that we're just built this primitive? Like, seriously, WHY can't someone just root for an opposing team without being absolutely slaughtered by their fans?

Check out a similar vibe—there's this great British film called "The football factory." The whole plot basically revolves around three away trips by Chelsea FC fans where the entire point isn't even watching the game... it's just about brawling with the locals. Pure brutality, as much as you can handle. 😬

I haven't actually sat down to watch the movie yet. I just caught the trailer, and my initial impression is that it treats fans with a certain level of prejudice... much like how people tend to judge everyone else here in America.

Lucky you! If I’d actually seen that movie instead of just sitting there dying of boredom, maybe I would've had a good time.
