And now, some people are trying to pass this off as some kind of profound science (or art 😁). It honestly makes my skin crawl when I hear Eddy Ramić on KROQ promoting and hyping up "eclecticism" as if it were some legitimate musical genre. Oh, please... 👎 👎 👎 Eddy and Dus are basically Amer and Rus. 😁

I mean, look, Optimo and Annie are basically legends... their mixtapes are incredibly eclectic, and honestly, that is PRECISELY why I’m such a huge fan🙂They just throw everything into the mix—post-punk, new wave, Motown, disco, click house, garage, funk, early electronic stuff... they don't follow any damn rules, and you know what? It sounds amazing. I am dying to know what their San Francisco playlist looks like👍

You really have to learn how to use a dictionary; dictionaries list all the possible meanings of a concept. In the case of the term "eclectic," its potentially negative connotation is right there. When that term is used in critique (scientific, artistic, etc.), it is value-neutral. Most modern music, whether it's good or bad, is eclectic precisely because it sticks to certain influences. For example, are The Hives (admittedly a bad example for those who can't stand them) just a disorganized mess because they picked up what they felt was "most appropriate" from the rock and roll tradition?
