Okay, let's try not to get personal here. Honestly, I couldn't help but laugh at the claim that Nirvana is more original and influential than they actually are—well, I was mostly laughing at the "logic" behind that argument, if you know what I mean. I don't want anyone thinking I'm some kind of hater, because I'm really not; I actually think quite a few of their albums are fantastic.
I totally get it, though—you're a huge fan and it stings when people talk trash about your favorite band. But look, even though I personally enjoy the Dead Kennedys way more than The Birthday Party, I wouldn't dream of claiming that band is particularly original or influential, because, let's be real, they just aren't. 😉

If originality were actually the metric for a band's quality, you could find dozens of acts outperforming Sonic Youth—not that those others aren't good, mind you...

btw, across America, Sonic Youth usually just opens for the |Jammer|s...

Alright, am I the only one going crazy trying to rank these bands?
Do you people actually view making music as some kind of competition?

anyway, over in the States, Sonic Youth is basically just an opening act for the Jammers...

honestly, i'd put Elvis Presley way ahead of all of them

😁

Personally, I’d probably put Chuck Berry right in front of him, but hey, that’s probably not what today's show is about!🙂

Thank God it’s finally official where Pearl Jam stands—right at the top of that heavy-hitting classic rock elite alongside Aerosmith, Van Halen, the Eagles, Journey, and Guns N' Roses...

Like our representative was saying the other day, once the hype dies down, they’ll just be seen as another mediocre, bandwagon-jumping act... 🙂

I think I finally have to side with the Americans on this one!
I first got into Pearl Jam when I was about 16, and honestly, ten years later, I’m still listening!
They are just incredible musicians—so much creativity and genuine talent. The music is top-tier, especially because the lyrics actually mean something and feel real. Eddie Vedder, Jeff, Stone, and the rest of the crew are just perfect. 🙂

But Bon Jovi? Please. You'd be better off putting them in a hair salon rather than on a stage. To me, they're just a total cliché band for frustrated teenagers with broken hearts who lose their minds over some guy who looks more like a hairdresser than a rockstar...

👍, though we could certainly debate that first one—but it's way too early in the morning for that.

As for Bon Jovi, I’d rather see them behind a salon chair than on a stage... they're honestly a terrible band. They're just for those American teenage girls with broken hearts and frustrated lives who go crazy for some hairstylist...

I respect the PJ 🙏 rirvjymiror 👍

But could you explain what you mean by that Bon Jovi comment??? Do you actually know anything about them? Or are you just following the lead of your close friends and those mediocre musicians who think they can judge everyone else's taste? 🙂

Look, I know I'm being a bit of a hair-splitter here... so don't take it all to heart. Personally, I just can't get into their music. I've got a few of their tracks on my MP3 player and they're honestly a disaster—just a little too sappy for my taste. Sure, Rich Samora is probably a killer guitarist, but their whole vibe is just totally lame.

That's just my two cents. I'm not really into critics or haters, but man, they are just so cringey... what am I supposed to do about it?
They're fine if you're in the mood for a good cry, I guess...

They're okay if you want a good cry...
👋

F***, so what? Is this some kind of doom-and-gloom band to you or something???

Huh, Bon Jovi is basically an optimistic rock band by default, and you've got bad MP3s...

Seriously though, which song is supposed to make you cry? I'm guessing you mean "Always"??? Personally, that one doesn't move me to tears...

There are actually a few songs that really do get to me...

"August 7", 4:15 (that track from Jonny's solo album), and "My Guitar Lies Bleeding in my Arms"😢 , "Something to Believe In", maybe a few others... They're all incredibly raw, just like everything else from the era leading up to "It's My Life"... Huh, looks like the new album might finally break the streak of bad stuff starting with "Bounce"...

This is the thread dedicated to Pearl Jam🙂

But if you really want my honest, bad take:
Bed of Roses
I'll be there for you
I want you
wild is the wind....
blah blah blah...total bullshit!

To me, every single one of those songs sounds exactly the same!
