What if I'm pregnant?

So, I had a few drinks at my high school reunion, headed home to my boyfriend, and things got heated. Turns out the condom broke—we didn't even realize until it was already too late. Just a heads up though, it was the very last day of my period.

We’re actually thinking about getting married soon and are currently sorting out our place together. We want kids eventually, and we've both said if it happens, it happens... but honestly? I'm feeling pretty anxious about it all.

Just remember, an egg is only viable for about 24 hours, but sperm can hang around for up to 3 days.

I mean, if you're pregnant, you can have sex as much as you want without having to worry about getting pregnant.

Honestly, the whole emergency pill idea isn't really my thing—we'd keep the baby regardless. I'm just saying, I'm not exactly thrilled because I've got other things I want to do first, though I guess there's never actually a "perfect" time to have a baby.

I mean, we're old enough to handle it, and the kid wouldn't miss out on anything—especially not love.🙂

Why worry? This is a total win-win. If your cycles are steady, the odds of pregnancy are slim. But if you're planning on having kids down the road—it's better to find out now than later.😬

Like, whether you dig it or not, it can pull you out of a bad spot. A friend of mine completely lost her fertility right when she was ovulating. Who knows, maybe if she hadn't taken the morning-after pill, she’d actually have a kid by now...
The side effects are brutal, though. I don't know about everyone else, but I had this experience where I needed the emergency pill and my OBGYN gave me four regular birth control pills instead—told me to take two in the morning and two at night. Probably doesn't happen like that here in the States. Honestly thought I was dying. Nauseous as hell and my heart was racing like crazy all day long. That's why I say—never again...

Personally, I’m not a fan of that whole emergency contraception route; if anything happened, we’d definitely keep the baby. Don't let the negative thoughts wear you down. Of course things feel intense right now and your head is spinning, but based on what you described, you actually have plenty of reasons to be happy regardless of how this plays out. Like you said, there's never a "right time," and there will always be some new life plan or goal in the way. But when you look back at your entire life, it's always been full of plans that didn't happen or shifted along the way. It doesn't matter; everyone ends up happy and content eventually because priorities are constantly evolving.
