!!!! This phenomenal trilogy is finally getting its full-length feature version πŸ™‚)))))

In their very first feature film, Tom and Jerry have to figure out who’s been sneaking around under the cover of night stealing all the veggies in the neighborhood 🀣 and putting the annual giant vegetable contest at risk :kes:

If you haven't seen them yet, you really should check out the trilogy:

Toy Story franchise: A Grand Day Out
Toy Story franchise: The Wrong Trousers
Toy Story franchise: A Close Shave

And there's also this collection of 10 short cartoons called "Wallace & Gromit: Cracking Contraptions" on DVD...

The movie hits theaters on October 20, 2005. πŸ™‚))))))))

Enjoy πŸ™‚)))))))))))))))))

Simply AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there even a single bad joke to be found in this movie? Not one! It is simply perfection from start to finish!!!!

Just finished watching it tonight

It’s honestly great πŸ‘

Jerry is already a legend to me, but he really shines in this one πŸ™‚ No dialogue, no over-the-top pantomime, just those eyes and that subtle expression... it hits you right in the feels...

The whole vibe of the movie is totally gothic horror, though. It kind of reminds me of those old classic Hammer movies, or maybe even some high-budget blockbusters like Van Helsing when they try to lean into those clichΓ© spooky vibes...

I was actually wondering if Tim Burton saw this too (since his wife is one of the voice actors) and, well, if he got a little excited during certain scenes that felt like they were made just for him 😁 😁 😁

Reminds me of my sister with those big eyes.😁

Great movie, actually cheered me up. Solid animation, funny bits, and surprisingly wasn't as predictable as I thought it’d be. Only downside was the subtitlesβ€”total garbage translations.

Oh, and what's the deal with the penguins from Madagascar? They were a total letdown.

I thought the penguins were pretty decentβ€”especially the one with the dynamite.

And the Toy Story franchise is legendary πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

The Movie was so good I actually got cramps from laughing, particularly during that dogfight scene πŸ˜‚

I thought those penguins were absolutely wild. I really loved that whole militant approach they take to solving problems, plus the way the action scenes were directed with such mathematical precision 😁 😁 though, I haven't actually sat down to watch Madagascar yet, so I can't say if they're any better or worse over there

As for the translation, I don't hold it against them too much. The whole movie is just packed with these witty wordplay jokes that are basically impossible to translate into American Englishβ€”like how they play with words like "dumb" or puns involving "hair" and "hare" and stuff like that.

.

Oh, come on now, isn't that really the only flaw?
One shouldn't act like they invented the art of translation, since you can find someone like that in every single movie ever made!

By the wayβ€”just to be clearβ€”when I say "hats off," I mean it as a sincere compliment! 😁

Melancholy Beaver said:I can't really blame them for the translation issues. The whole movie is packed with wordplay that just doesn't work when you swap languagesβ€”like "Tupe" being "to pay" or "hair" vs "hare." It’s impossible to catch those jokes in another language.

Wordplay is my specialty... and yeah, some stuff just doesn't translate.
I wasn't trashing untranslatable idioms, just basic words. "Launch" isn't lunch, and "carrot" isn't karate. Even someone like me, who usually misses all the nuances in translation, can see they aren't even trying. It's just lazy.

Maria Peterson said:OP, hats off to you. Respect. 😁

Dammit. 😬 It should've been a thumbs down.

An op-ed should be attached to an original piece, not someone else's. πŸ˜‰

But if my post is my own original writing, then whose work am I even attaching it to?
(Do you see what she's getting at there with her little remark? πŸ˜‰)

Oh goodness, honestly, you can find at least one blunder like that in every single movie... like when a character clearly says "thirty-five," yet some oblivious subtitler decides to write "55" instead!
Sometimes I truly find myself wondering if they do it on purpose!

You totally used that term in the wrong context πŸ˜‰

As for the numbers, I'm 100% sure they're messing them up on purpose. πŸ™‚

It was a bit of a misunderstanding, wasn't it? I didn't quite manage to convey my point regarding the operator correctly, but oh well, let's just move past it!

I can't help but feel as though I've encountered this exact same thing before, perhaps in an article or a news report... isn't it suspicious how they seem to intentionally misinterpret numerical data during translations?

Maria Peterson said:I feel like I've heard that somewhere too... read it in passing, maybe. Like they're intentionally messing up the numbers during translation.

Facts. I can deal with people messing up complex math or being too lazy to convert miles to kilometers or pounds to kilograms. But when they translate "five" as "three"? That’s just a broken internal database. No other way to look at it. πŸ™‚

Still can't get over that massive blunder where Shackleton’s translator swapped an albatross for a pelican. Like, seriously, what were they thinking?

The note is just her adding context to her own piece. Yeah, she wrote the actual text, but that "hats off" comment? That part was all me. Is that still confusing? πŸ˜‰

Anyway, enough with the off-topic stuff. Who else actually liked the movie?

People actually asked me that while I was trying to explain why this movie is a masterpiece, so maybe I should just shut up and stop posting. 😳

Tom and Jerry is a blast πŸ™ ....I’ll admit I only went because of the hype, but the movie actually has such good vibes :-) ....and honestly, the direction is more solid than most big studio releases lately 😁

This cartoon is absolutely wild. It’s packed with clever little bitsβ€”mostly wordplayβ€”so my advice is to really lean in and listen to the dialogue rather than just relying on the subtitles.
There are a few translation hiccups here and there, but nothing that ruins the experience.
Tom and Jerry 😍

I also thought those penguins were great πŸ™‚

I caught a showing over on Broadway recently. On Wednesdays, tickets for all screenings are $6.75, but the theater was practically emptyβ€”hardly ten people showed up. Such a shame.

The translation has a few hiccups, but nothing major.
Tom and Jerry 😍
The penguins were pretty great too. πŸ™‚

$6.75 ? I guess that's fine... kind of like my typical Monday... it's 16 😁 ....
Is there a cartoon just about him? 😁 😁

If only I could find 😒
Or maybe just track down a plushie that has those exact same eyes 😍

I really need to figure out how to get my hands on those three movies; I haven't seen them yet 😳

I definitely need to track down those three movies somehow; haven't seen them yet 😳

Tell me about it... I'm basically an outcast to certain people because I've never seen or even heard of the others... apparently "everyone" has watched them πŸ˜• 😁 ...but seriously, if you find that plushie, let me know. I could use a gift soon :-)
