So, I’m 29 years old and I’ve been thinking about finally signing up for some hip-hop classes, but I can't help but wonder if I'm a bit behind the curve. Is there a dance studio in New York City that actually welcomes older women into their hip-hop programs? To be fair, I’ve always been pretty athleticβ€”I actually hold a black belt in karateβ€”so I’m fairly confident that I could pick up the fundamental moves pretty quickly, regardless of my age😍.

Honestly, don't sweat it; everyone gets them, even people a bit further along in life. You just need to find a studio that caters to your age group so you aren't stuck in a room full of thirteen-year-olds. I'm thirty myself and I still head down to my jazz classes, so trust me, you aren't "old" by any stretch of the imagination.

πŸŽ‰, thanks jadetiger962. I'll definitely give you a shout if I manage to track down a club where they aren't just stuck on the usual ballroom stuff like waltz, rumba, or samba, but actually focus on hip-hop and those kinds of styles instead.

I’m familiar with some dance studios like Alvin Ailey and Fred Astaire; they both have decent websites where you can check out their schedules to see what fits your life. Honestly, you can always just drop by, say hi, and ask if you can trial a class. Usually, they'll let you try your first hour for free anyway.

Well, it looks like the news about Fred Astaire finally broke! Sadly, it didn't happen until this fall, which is a bit of a bummer since the group that signed up last year is already winding down. I’ve been getting myself all worked up and excited for this, though, so I’m really looking forward to it! Thanks so much for keeping me in the loop. Bye!

I was just wondering, maybe by any chance, if any of you all might be heading out to that group meetup over in a suburb near New York City?

Can anyone recommend a hip-hop dance studio that actually attracts both guys and girls and hosts regular competitions?

Hey... Have you happened to find a studio in NYC that isn't just a bunch of kids under 20?
I'm 24, and everywhere I look, it's just juniors.
