Help! Dealing with constant pop-ups!

Hello, I just picked up a new laptop running Windows 10, but I am already struggling with pop-up ads appearing across every browser I use (Chrome, Firefox, and Opera), and I am at a loss as to how to fix this. On my old laptop, I managed to avoid the issue by using Opera, which seemed to be the only one free of these pop-ups, but now even that is plagued by them. I have already tried installing various extensions like Adblock and Adblock Plus, along with several other pop-up blockers, yet nothing seems to work. Could anyone please suggest an effective way to deal with this nuisance? It is incredibly frustrating to open a website only to be immediately redirected to some random advertisement. First off, run some junk out of your system with CCleaner, then grab ADWcleaner straight from their site and give that a whirl too. It’s also a smart move to run a full scan with Malwarebytes just to be safe. While you're at it, dig into the settings for all your browsers—check if that pop-up blocker is actually turned on and see if any weird extensions have hitched a ride without you knowing. Besides using ABP, look for anything else that shouldn't be there.

What wearymason4 mentioned is spot on—that's really the best way to finally ditch those annoying ads.

It’s working perfectly with Opera now. The ads have finally stopped appearing, even though they were popping up right after I finished everything... I went into my extensions and disabled everything except for ABP, and that seems to have done the trick. It's all good now. I haven't had a chance to test it out on Firefox or Chrome yet. Just grab an adblocker and set it to run in the background of your browser. It'll quietly scrub away all those annoying ads and pop-ups before they even hit your screen.

Right.

I installed it right away, but I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working at first. It turns out that after cleaning up my browser and adding a few extensions, everything started running smoothly. Does it really matter? As long as the ads are gone, I'm happy. 🙂

Maybe try doing a little digging on YouTube tutorials first... seriously. You don't need to start a whole new thread on the forum every single time you run into something minor...

What are you even talking about? This is my very first open thread, and people have actually been helpful here. If you don't have anything constructive to contribute, why not just move along?

uh, by the way, if you actually caught something nasty, an adblocker isn't really gonna save your skin. I mean, you should probably grab some decent anti-malware software plus a solid antivirus and just run a full scan on your whole computer with both of them. If you're wondering which one is actually worth the hype, I guess you could look at what Opswat says since they basically do the official reviews, and they have this app called Gears that I’d highly recommend installing. It’ll basically just scan your system once a day using like 40 different anti-threat tools and let you know if there's any reason to start freaking out...
