Hey everyone!

I’ve got a quick question for you guys.
So, I’m on Triquilar birth control, and last Thursday—the same day I was intimate with my partner—I totally missed my pill. I didn't even realize until Friday night, and honestly, I just stopped taking them altogether after that. Late Thursday night (right after we were together), I had this super heavy brown discharge, but then by Friday, it completely cleared up. On Saturday, though, I had some really intense bleeding, so I decided to play it safe and took an emergency contraceptive pill (Plan B). Since then, through Sunday and all the way until today, there hasn't been any more bleeding or spotting at all. My last period started on January 2nd, and it only lasted about 2 or 3 days, plus it was incredibly painful...

Does anyone know if it's possible that my period just cut short because I took that emergency pill?

Thanks so much in advance for any help! 😉

Then on Saturday, I had some bleeding—really heavy—so just to be safe, I took an emergency contraceptive (Plan B). Since then, on Sunday and today, there hasn't been any more bleeding or discharge. Good grief, what were you thinking?😘
Do you actually realize what Plan B is? It's a massive dose of hormones designed to stop pregnancy.
What you experienced was essentially a withdrawal bleed triggered because you abruptly interrupted your cycle by stopping your regular pills. You should have taken the missed pill along with the one from that day and finished out the pack. What you didn't mention is which day of your cycle you were on, or which week. I'm assuming you were near the end of the pack, since you bled so quickly after.
If you've been on oral contraceptives for more than six months, the odds of getting pregnant from one missed pill are lower because your hormone levels are stabilized enough to prevent ovulation; even if ovulation did occur, the body wouldn't be able to sustain an implantation. That’s why women trying to conceive after being on the pill for a long time often need a little time for their bodies to "reset" hormonally before they can successfully get pregnant.

Oh my gosh... don't panic!! 🙂
I haven't actually forgotten a dose before... I used to be on those Triquilar pills back in the day, but then I took a break from them for about a year...
And I just started taking this new one again recently... my period was from the 2nd to the 5th of the month, and that’s when I kicked things off again... so, yeah... 🙂

and I only just started back on these this month. My period was from the 2nd to the 5th, and that’s when I restarted them, so yeah... 🙂

Look, the main thing is that it's over now. I had a total meltdown about six months ago because I couldn't get to CVS until the next day since it was the weekend. At that point, I’d been on Yasmin for over half a year, so I just skipped that one pill. I was freaking out until the woman at the clinic called me and said they didn't have my specific brand in stock, but then the on-call doctor stepped in and told me I didn't need to sweat it given how long I'd been consistently taking Yasmin. Since then, I haven't missed a single dose, and 😬it doesn't look like you will either, based on what you're saying.😁

I honestly don't think there's any way that's happening! 😁

I don't want to start a whole new thread for this... I just really need some advice...

So, okay, I’ve been on Celest for over two years now. I actually took a three-month break recently, but I started back up on a new pack about a week or two ago. Anyway, I had sex last night and totally blanked on taking my pill afterward. I finally took it this morning 😢 which means I was about 9 hours late. The box says if you're less than 12 hours behind, you should just keep going as usual and the protection isn't significantly lowered—but honestly, I'm low-key freaking out about the possibility of getting pregnant. I was thinking about swinging by my OB-GYN tomorrow to see if she can just write me a new prescription.
What do you guys think? Is that even necessary, and will she actually give them to me since I'm already on birth control? Also, does anyone know how much those usually run? I don't want to show up there empty-handed only to realize I have to pay out of pocket

So, I was thinking I should have done it yesterday—well, actually, I meant this morning, which would've been like 15 days ago

Honestly, I don't think you even need extra protection. Go ahead and call your doctor if it makes you feel better, but from what I can tell—you were less than 12 hours late, and that was with a regular cycle. You’ll become a mom when it’s actually meant to happen, not just whenever you feel like it. 🙂

I’m on Trinidad too, and honestly, it totally depends on which week you actually miss your pill—though I think it’s basically the same rule for any three-phase pill. If you miss one during the first or third week, you’ve gotta take the missed dose as soon as you remember and then use backup protection for the next seven days. Apparently, if it happens during the second week, there’s supposedly no risk, but personally? I’d say be extra careful if you’re even slightly paranoid like me... mostly just for that sweet, sweet peace of mind! 😉
Also, I’m pretty sure for the first and third weeks, if you had sex in the days right before you realized you forgot the pill, there’s still a real chance of pregnancy..

I mean, I’m pretty sure nothing’s gonna happen either, but honestly? I think I’ll still swing by my OB-GYN just to be safe... better to get out for a little walk and get it over with now rather than waiting until the last minute and realizing I was just being lazy about making the appointment...

Just popping in here to vent a little bit—hope you don't mind me dumping my frustrations on you...

So, look, I really didn't want to invite any bad luck today, but I had to swing by the OBGYN. I’ve got a mountain of stuff to study since I have exams this Thursday and Friday, so I figured—hey, it shouldn't take all day, right? I just needed to ask about emergency contraception and maybe schedule a regular checkup while I was already there,
I rolled up to the clinic around 2:45 PM and I'm sitting there listening to these ladies next to me getting totally worked up because they showed up at 1:30 and still haven't been seen... I'm sitting there thinking, "Man, if they've been waiting that long, I am definitely not going to make it in time." Then, after what felt like a solid 45 minutes to an hour, the nurse finally calls me back. She asks what I need, I explain the situation and the appointment thing, and she just goes, "Here, take $6.75" and then tells me she's gonna head to the cafeteria to grab a sandwich and she'll deal with me when she gets back?
Fine, whatever, I play along and go grab a sandwich myself :stupid_me: and walk back in a bit later. I try to be helpful—tell her my history, what birth control I'm on, the whole nine yards—and she just brushes me off like, "Okay, just wait outside for a second, we'll get you sorted..." Fast forward to 5:45 PM and she calls me back in!!!! Just to tell me I don't even need the pill and that I can't schedule the appointment right now, so I should just call back after my next period starts!!! Three hours. That was three hours of my life gone just for that? And the worst part—the absolute kicker—is that those women who were complaining earlier? They were STILL sitting there waiting after I left!
