I honestly don't think they were following UFC rules back then. And it definitely wasn't a cage match.

Anyone who actually watched—or plans to watch—needs to pay closer attention to how Branko was moving.

Look, the reason he got DQ'ed was because he was clinging on for dear life when Kerr tried to take him down—he grabbed onto the ropes and just wouldn't let go, doing it several times, which is why they disqualified him.
While he was busy hugging those ropes, Kerr was absolutely dismantling him.
As for the broadcast, I’m just as skeptical as you are that we'll see it, but apparently, there are negotiations going on with FOX.

As for the broadcast, I’m skeptical too, but there are talks going on with FOX.

Just remember, Kerr Cikatić never "panicked" on anyone, inside or outside the ring. He was disqualified for landing an elbow to the head. It’s honestly pathetic to see you belittle our greatest fighter of all time with such nonsense! We sure are brave behind a keyboard, aren't we?

Does anyone happen to have a recording of the fight? It would be helpful to see exactly what went down instead of us all just going back and forth like this.

That would be ideal.

He basically got wrecked by Kerr—specifically by his takedowns. And yeah, fine, I agree he's one of the legends in K-1, but in Las Vegas, he only has two losses. One was to Kerr because he was grabbing the ropes, and the other was a submission loss to Mo Smith. Sure, he landed that elbow to the head the first time while near the ropes, but let's be real: he wouldn't have been taken down if he hadn't been clutching those ropes. Just look at that second time they were by the edge; he almost got him, then he got pissed about the elbow strike, and that's where Kerr Cikatić really got battered. I honestly don't know what he was thinking moving to MMA.
I've got that fight on my computer; I need to check the file size before I send it over so you can download it.

Yeah, honestly? Watching that fight was actually pretty uncomfortable. It looked like Cikatić realized he was getting absolutely smoked and was headed for a trip home covered in bruises, so he started throwing some seriously dirty moves just to survive.

Look, I don't care what anyone says, that scrap belongs right up there with Drvišev vs. Briggs in my book.

Hey everyone... We're talking about Mirko and Coleman here..

But since we've veered off track..
Cikatic acted like a complete amateur; he saw things were getting dirty and decided to start cheating. He was grabbing ropes, using his elbows, and all that.

The Japanese officials were completely justified in handing him the DQ.

February 20th, I think. Or maybe it was... honestly, my memory is a complete wreck lately. February 20th. That’s the date stuck in my head.

Mirko “ cro Cop ” Filipovic vs. Mark “ The Hammer ” Coleman. It’s one of those matchups that just sits in the back of your mind, isn't it? You look at the styles—the sheer, unadulterated power versus that clinical, terrifying striking. It’s a clash of philosophies. On one side, you have the brute force of an American powerhouse like Mark “ The Hammer ” Coleman, someone who basically redefined what it meant to be a wrestler in the cage, and on the other, you have the surgical precision of Mirko “ cro Cop ” Filipovic. It’s almost too much to wrap your head around. I mean, how do you even prepare for that kind of collision? One guy wants to turn the fight into a wrestling match in the dirt, and the other just wants to find the distance to land that legendary left kick. It’s chaotic. Honestly, my head spins just thinking about the tactical nightmare this presents. It’s pure, unfiltered combat. Just... wow.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (USA) vs. muriti “ ninja ” Rua (Brazil)

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Brazil) vs. Alistair Overeem (Holland)

The matchup between Choi on Bae and Sergea Kharitonov... honestly, I can't even begin to wrap my head around how this one plays out. It’s such a bizarre stylistic clash! You've got the intensity coming out of Korea meeting that heavy-hitting Russian powerhouse. I was sitting here thinking about it—just staring at the screen, trying to make sense of the math—and it’s driving me absolutely nuts. One guy's style just doesn't seem to mesh with the other, you know? It’s like trying to mix oil and water, or maybe more like trying to run a high-end software program on an ancient, clunky desktop from the nineties. Total mismatch in energy! Anyway, I'm probably overthinking it. I tend to do that. But seriously, the sheer unpredictability of this fight is enough to give anyone a headache. Just total chaos waiting to happen.
Igor Vovchanchyn ( Ukraine vs. Yoshiki Takahashi. Now that is a matchup worth discussing! Honestly, I’ve been sitting here thinking about this one all morning, trying to wrap my head around how the styles actually clash. It’s one thing to look at the stats, but it's another thing entirely to see the sheer intensity when these two step into the cage. I mean, look, I know I tend to ramble—my wife tells me all the time that I can't just get to the point—but you cannot ignore the raw power we're talking about here. You have Vovchanchyn, who is basically a human wrecking ball, and then you have Takahashi. It's high stakes. It's heavy hitting. If you aren't watching this, what are you even doing with your weekend? Just sitting there? Unbelievable. Anyway, enough of my nonsense. Let's get into the actual fight mechanics.
Tom Erikson vs. Fabricio Werdum (Brazil)

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (Brazil) vs. Hiromitsu Kanehara (Japan)

The matchup between Ryan Gracie from Brazil and Kazuhiro Nakamura from Japan—now that I think about it, just looking at the sheer weight of the history here—is honestly enough to make my head spin. It’s one of those fights where you just sit there, staring at the screen, wondering if anyone actually knows what they're doing! You have the Gracie legacy clashing against the Japanese fighting spirit, and frankly, it feels like a collision course for chaos. My mind keeps drifting to how much the landscape has changed since then, but regardless, this specific pairing? It's pure, unadulterated tension. One side brings that heavy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pedigree, and the other brings that disciplined, technical approach from Japan. It's madness! Absolute madness! I can barely wrap my brain around the tactical nightmare this presents. Just... wow.

The matchup between Mario Sperry and Hirotaka Yokoi... honestly, I can't even begin to wrap my head around the sheer intensity of this one. It’s just—it's overwhelming! You have Mario Sperry, a literal force of nature, stepping into that ring against Hirotaka Yokoi from Japan. It’s madness! Pure, unadulterated chaos! I was sitting here thinking about it, and my mind just starts racing through all the technicalities—not that I'm an expert, heavens no, I'm just a guy with far too much time on his hands and a penchant for overanalyzing everything—but the stylistic clash here? It’s massive. It’s heavy. It’s enough to make your head spin! You've got the grit, you've got the technique, and then there's the sheer pressure of fighting someone coming all the way from Japan. It’s a lot to process. A LOT. My brain is practically smoking just contemplating the implications of this fight!

Fabricio Werdum is going to be in for a hell of a fight, honestly... I mean, it's gonna be a total grind, but if you ask me? I think he actually pulls it off. He's got that grit. It won't be easy, though. Not by a long shot.

Well, it really ought to be Mirko. Probably in four or maybe six months. He should have been in there already, but he went and pushed the fight back again.

Yeah, I know Mike Tyson was the move, but I figured Brock Lesnar might have had a fight lined up in the meantime, maybe within four months or so.
