No clue! 🙂

🙂

What else? I need at least 12 albums on this list, one for every month. 😁 Actually, wait, Nick counts as two.

Can't wait for the new album in 2005! 🙂😁

Even though I follow what The Wire and Pitchfork have to say every year, I’m always most accurately hit by the guy behind almostcool

You’ve probably all seen Pitchfork's list anyway, so here is The Wire's:

albert ayler - holy ghost
Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
fennesz - venice
death prod - deathprod box
animal collective - sung tongs
devendra banhart - rejoice in the hands
wolf eyes - burned mind
wilco - a ghost is born
pg six - the well of memory
einsturzende neubauten - perpetuum mobile
arthur russel - calling out of context
ellen fullman & konrad sprenger - ort
brian wilson - smile
akira rabelais - spellewauernyg...
radian - juxaposition
bark psychosis - codename dustsucker
dizzee rascal - showtime
keiji haino - black blues
Bjork - Medulla
ghost - hypnotic underworld
zeena parkins & ikue mori - phamton orchard
cLOUDDEAD - ten
sunburned hand of man - rare wood
ramon sender - worldfood
alvin curran - lost marbles
Madvillain - Madvillany!!!
steve harris & zaum - above our heads the sky splits open
the hafler trio - how to slice a loaf of bread
electralane - the power out
deerhoof - milk man
antena - camino del sol
mv + ee - lunar blues
kazuo imai - far & wee
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free
kanye west - the college dropout
Boredoms - Black Dic
sunn0))) - white 2
Arcade Fire - Funeral
anthony braxton quartet - 23 standards
rammellzee -bi-conicals
jack rose - raag manifestos
stereolab - margerine eclipse
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - abbatoir blues
Comets on Fire - Blue Cathedral
keiji haino - next lets try changing the shape
niobe - voodooluba
soft pink truth - do you wnat the new...
thalia zedek - trust not those whom without some touch of madness
tucker martine - broken hearted dragonflies
Black Dice - Creature Comforts

And yeah, those guys at The Wire really grate on my nerves—always reserving spots on their list for heavyweights like Sonic Youth or Bjork... I can wrap my head around it when they're talking about Murray Street, but I honestly have no clue what the hell Sonic Nurse is doing there, let alone at number two...
My friend might be onto something, the same one who causes a copy of The Wire to travel from London to Austin every single month 😎 ...he says Sonic Youth probably rolls out the red carpet for the Wire crew whenever they're in New York... maybe we should try offering them some BBQ and craft beer and see how far Lavender Fields and Peach Pit actually get us 😉

Antony is straight out of the ninety-nineties, for God's sake! And I seriously cannot believe you actually threw The Books on this list—tsk tsk... what, do you think Valerie is sitting there reading this? 😛

It’s not being arrogant when you’re talking about having >=10 of them 😁

As for me, I honestly don't think Iron & Wine hit the mark at all this year. 🙄 Same goes for Bjork, man.

But man, Razorlight was a total shock to the system. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Frank Harrigan said:Look, if anything here is being arrogant, it's Liars...

What is it with everyone getting so worked up over a little bit of sarcasm? 😁... okay, maybe I missed a smiley face, but seriously people.... 😁 ... it's called I-R-O-N-Y, and it actually aligns perfectly with what Frank Harrigan pointed out above... honestly, seeing Robert Cooper41's list and then Codyjev's really got me thinking. If only I could strip some of this stuff out. He he. Ho ho.

(For the record, I absolutely love Liars... that album is legendary.)

Personally, I think the first one was better. This one isn't really danceable. And for us sailors, danceable usually means better! 🙂

So, how much of this summer's releases have actually dropped so far?
I haven't even touched half of the stuff that came out, especially all that end-of-the-year clutter.
I’m digging Lali Puna, Soft Pink Truth, Jens Lekman, Walkmen, The Album Leaf, and Xiu Xiu.
Interpol still hasn't really clicked for me, for some reason...
I'm still just sitting here waiting for certain people to donate some new Les Savy Fav to the pile... though I wouldn't complain if we threw some Stereolab into the mix too.

Antony is basically a legend this year over at Secretly Canadian, pops.

... and Grandpa keeps going:
You praised him, I tore him down. You added him, I stripped him away (from the list).

He’s grown on me over time, though. Irony's a bitch, innit?

You clearly aren't a true Soulseek addict, because if I had been more ambitious, I could have easily squeezed in The Killers, SY, FF, and Architecture in Helsinki 😁 ... but I deliberately left out names like Johann Johannson, Otto von Schirach, or Gris Gris just so I wouldn't come off as some pretentious snob. 😁

By the way, for me, hunting down and listening to music is practically part of the job. 😬

Just scrolling through the Dnevnik today, looking at those top lists from the usual local heavyweights—Dragaš, Perković, Grgić, Denis Leskovar, and the rest.

Total vote count tallied up, the list looks like this:

1. Abattoir blues [ written by Nick Cave and Dad Seeds 😁 🙄 ]
2. Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
3. Franz Ferdinand
4. The Earlies - These were the Earlies
5. Bjork - Medulla

TOTAL GARBAGE! I can't stand seeing Nick getting this much hype. 😁😁😁

As for the local stuff:

1. TBF - Maxon universal
2. Edo Maajka - No sikiriki
3. Arsen Dedić - Na zlu putu
4. The Strange - Night of forgotten films
5. Ramirez

🙄 and 🙂 for Ramirez and Arsen 😁
