Exactly. Since Reiki and other alternative methods don't involve any "aggression"—you know, like taking pills, using unverified substances, or any procedure that physically attacks the body besides the mental aspect—I don't see why there's such a massive fuss and fear over it.

And regarding the money part, where on earth have you guys been living? In what country have you ever seen healthcare being free?? 😕 When you go to a standard doctor, you pay for their services. Sometimes it's indirect through insurance, sometimes it's direct. But why aren't you all foaming at the mouth about every single doctor in the world then? It would be great if everyone just worked for free, right? 😁
But no, you'll happily hand over a mountain of cash to someone like kurjak (regardless of how much they're bragging about themselves globally 😁) just because they have some fancy diploma and references. So, they can charge for it. Great. Honestly, your hypocrisy is staggering; you clearly don't actually care about anyone else getting better. 🙄

It would be more honest to just admit that anything outside the "Western" medical system feels alien to you, and you're scared of it because it's unfamiliar. Instead of spitting on something you don't even understand.

Alternative and modern medicine can work together, but only if you have actual professionals at the helm—not some self-proclaimed gurus who skimmed two books and took a weekend seminar before deciding they’re experts. People facing real health crises end up throwing everything at the wall just hoping something sticks. It's a tragedy, really.

You can't just have some amateur who read two books and took a weekend seminar thinking they've suddenly mastered everything.

Exactly.
But let’s be real—you'll find just as many hacks with MDs as you will among those self-proclaimed "alternative experts."

The difference is that people are much more likely to blindly trust a fancy diploma, a big reputation, or a slick commercial than they are to look deeper.

I am a firm believer that both sides of medicine MUST align and work hand-in-hand. Any doctor out there claiming otherwise—regardless of which camp they fall into—isn't actually focused on healing anyone; they're just focused on the bottom line. It's as plain as day.

Exactly. Honestly, before I let anyone touch me for any kind of session, I’m checking their credentials first. Period. If you’re going to hand over cash to a Reiki practitioner, make sure they actually are a master and see who licensed them.

As for the money part? People just have this mindset that if it isn't expensive, it isn't worth anything.

Spot on. 👍
When it comes to cost, people assume if they aren't paying for it, it isn't worth anything.

True, but that's on them.

Look, I’ve been practicing Reiki for years now. I guess I got lucky because I eventually found a master who actually follows the rules—and honestly, I’m curious which master would even dream of telling someone to stop taking their medication.

I mean, if you look at the actual principles of Reiki, you aren't supposed to force anything on anyone, especially not in situations like that.

Ever since I moved to Chicago, I’ve tried finding another master, but I haven't really been impressed with the ones I've run into.
My advice to people looking for this kind of help is to check out the National Reiki Association; if you go to their website (www.nationalreikiasociation.org), you can find everything about the masters and when they hold initiations.

For example, I met Biserka Šprah, who is totally fine and also happens to be a psychologist.

Anyway, for people I don't know personally, I charge for sessions at $17, which I don't think is much, though I still suggest everyone try to get initiated themselves.

It helped me deal with my knee issues (ACL tear, meniscectomy, patellar sclerosis, and double bucket-handle) and my liver (since I had Hepatitis B).
The injuries are still there, obviously, but I live like nothing happened.😁

She’s had a few MRIs done—at least, that's my take on it anyway—but they didn't really confirm anything until they did a biopsy...

Linda Peterson, your last two posts were so totally contradictory—it’s actually a good thing I caught the second one before replying to the first...🙂

In the first one, you totally missed the point of this thread—at least from my perspective—because even though I don't blindly buy into alternative medicine, I'd never tell anyone to just ditch their actual treatment for it. Even if it does nothing more than give someone a little confidence boost...

But then, in your second post, I think we're actually on the same page...

Quick question for the mods: who actually decided to rename this thread using my name?

Honestly, I’d never post something so ridiculous—I don't think Reiki is even remotely in the same league as mainstream medicine, let alone comparable.

Having a thread titled like this is a total slap in the face to my actual views—especially coming from the mods, who are supposed to be stopping this kind of stuff.

So, either change the title back to what it originally was, or if you're dead set on changing it, pick something that actually fits but doesn't twist my words or just delete the whole thing.
Basically, what you did here is just stupid.
